<div>ESP Associates is currently seeking an experienced roadway engineer to join our team in either Raleigh (Morrisville), NC, Charlotte (Huntersville), NC, or Fort Mill, SC to serve as our Roadway Engineering Senior Project Manager. You will also be involved in development of growth strategies, market penetration, team growth/development, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Lead the planning, design, and delivery or roadway construction projects for NCDOT, local governments, and public and private clients.</li><li>
Perform, review, and approve engineering analyses and calculations from preliminary design through final plans.</li><li>
Direct the development of construction plans, specifications, technical reports, and detailed cost estimates.</li><li>
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize resources, schedules, and quality across all project phases.</li><li>
Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, fee proposals, and contract documents.</li><li>
Oversee project execution, including schedules, client billing, and profitability, while ensuring adherence to quality standards.</li><li>
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, representing both the firm and clients at project meetings, open houses, and public hearings.</li><li>
Support business development efforts through client engagement, project negotiations, and proposal development.</li><li>
Mentor and guide engineering staff, fostering professional growth and supporting succession planning.</li><li>
Build and maintain long-term relationships with existing and prospective clients to support repeat and new business.</li><li>
Ensure compliance with applicable design standards, project specifications, safety requirements, and quality control procedures.</li><li>
Participate in professional organizations and industry activities to promote professional development and firm visibility.</li><li>
Assist with workforce planning, monthly invoicing, and final review of project deliverables, including reports and plan sets.</li></ul>
Qualifications:<ul><li>
8+ years of progressive experience in roadway design, project leadership and team oversight.</li><li>
Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)</li><li>
Professional Engineering (PE) license in North Carolina, or ability to obtain within 6 months.</li><li>
Comprehensive knowledge of roadway design principles, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and project delivery practices.</li><li>
Demonstrated ability to prepare and oversee the development of roadway plans, specifications, and cost estimates.</li><li>
Advanced proficiency with MicroStation, GeoPak (Road and Drainage), and OpenRoads Designer (ORD).</li><li>
Experience providing construction-phase services, including design support, field coordination, and issue resolution.</li><li>
Proven ability to manage and evaluate project progression related to scope, project budgets, quality control, client reporting, and subconsultant coordination.</li><li>
Ability to collaborate with our marketing team to lead project pursuits, including the development of project proposals (written, presentations, interviews etc.).</li><li>
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with project teams, clients, regulatory agencies, public officials, and the public.</li><li>
Highly organized with strong planning skills and keen attention to detail.</li><li>
Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company&rsquo;s driving (MVR) policy.</li></ul>
Preferred:<ul><li>
Experience with and knowledge of NCDOT standards, specifications, policies, and procedures.</li><li>
Positive relationships with potential clients in North Carolina such as NCDOT, counties and municipalities, transit agencies, and airports.</li></ul>
