As a TypeScript Platform Engineer, you can play a major role in this by supporting our engineers and enabling them to do their work as well and as smartly as possible.
We make it happen by performing better every day than the day before. As a Platform TypeScript Engineer, you take responsibility for:

<li>Developing and further evolving the TMI TypeScript platform</li>
<li>Building and improving developer tooling, such as generators and libraries</li>
<li>Optimizing monorepo performance and developer experienceIntroducing new technical capabilities, such as data streaming solutions</li>
<li>Supporting and strengthening the community of backend engineers</li>
</ul>
You will strengthen the TMI team within the Essent IT department. Colleagues working as platform engineers and DevOps engineers join forces to increase developer productivity and scalability. You can solve our challenges if you recognize yourself in most of the points below:

<li>At least 5 years of experience with TypeScript and Node.js</li>
<li>Experience developing developer tooling such as scripts, task executors, or code generation</li>
<li>Experience with monorepos and tools such as NX, Turborepo or Rush Comfortable working cloud-native (preferably AWS)</li>
<li>Proactive in key areas such as roadmapping, solutioning, migrations, and designing and implementing new features</li>
<li>Affinity with CI/CD tooling such as GitLab pipelines or GitHub Actions</li>
<li>You get energy from working with a community of engineers as well as providing one-on-one support</li>

Platform TypeScript Engineer

<div>Together, we take the next step in the energy transition. As a Senior Data Engineer &ndash; Data Core, you help our team grow from pipeline operators into fully-fledged data engineers. Your first mission? Designing, migrating, and building our pipelines into a brand-new data orchestration layer. After that, your role will partially shift towards an advisory focus: supporting the organization in making the most of our self-service platform and designing stable, &lsquo;ownerless&rsquo; (external) pipelines.
In this role, you will work on:

<li>Knowledge sharing &amp; collaboration: You work closely with your teammates. Through pair programming and code reviews, you support them in adopting test-driven development and engineering standards in a safe and supportive environment.</li>
<li>Architecture &amp; design: You design scalable, distributed data pipelines and reproducible transformations.</li>
<li>Automation: You implement secure, consistent CI/CD processes and deploy containerized data applications on modern cloud platforms.</li>

We are looking for an experienced developer who brings stability and enjoys creating structure:

<li>Data engineering: You have extensive experience designing stable data infrastructures. You are comfortable modeling and processing data and enjoy making and explaining the right technical decisions together with the team.</li>
<li>Language-agnostic: Our main language is Python, so you are familiar with it (or you have strong experience in another language and are willing to learn Python quickly).</li>
<li>Software engineering foundation: You have solid experience as a data or software engineer in a production environment, applying best practices such as modular code, unit testing, and Infrastructure as Code to data pipelines.</li>
<li>Adaptability: You can improve complex architectures step by step and iteratively, without disrupting production environments.</li>
<li>Psychological safety: Your communication style is coaching and patient. You enjoy helping others grow technically without imposing rigid viewpoints.</li>
