Job Summary:<ul><li>
The Addiction Treatment Nurse-RN role is part of the Nursing team that supports ETS&rsquo; mission through patient care and medication management. The RN is responsible and accountable for following the standards of nursing conduct or practice.</li><li>
This role makes a critical difference at ETS by providing services to patients that can be lifesaving. Nurses provide compassionate and nonjudgmental care to all patients seeking treatment.</li><li>
The position is full time onsite; the location is a combination of time at the Seattle clinic, South King County Clinic and ETS&rsquo; Mobile Units, and the hours are 5 AM&ndash; 3 PM; some weekend shifts are required.</li></ul>
What you contribute to this role &ndash; Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Help ETS succeed in carrying out our mission through working together with other staff to transform systems of harm and inequity to create different approaches to improving community health and safety through addressing substance use and homelessness.</li><li>
Assist with the organization-wide initiative to reimagine our interconnectedness within our community to overcome the aspects of our society and organizational culture shaped by white supremacy and settler colonialism.</li></ul>
Job Functions (May include):
 Patient Care<ul><li>
Per the Washington State Board of Nursing: The RN practices nursing care independently using the nursing process. The RN functions interdependently when carrying out a medical regimen under the general direction of an authorized health care practitioner: Licensed physician (MD), physician assistant (PA), advanced registered nurse practitioner (ARNP).</li><li>
Dispensing Medications: Prepares and dispenses medications as ordered by a medical provider; evaluates and documents the effectiveness of medications and any adverse reactions.</li><li>
Nursing Care: Provide direct nursing care using the nursing process, ensuring a compassionate and supportive experience for all patients.</li><li>
Collaborate with the Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, or Medical Providers for patient care, medication orders, or clarification.</li><li>
Patient Education: Promote health, wellness, and provide patient education.</li><li>
Utilize verbal and physical de-escalation techniques to manage behaviorally escalated/aggressive patients.</li><li>
Perform Testing services: Breathalyzers, Drug Testing</li><li>
Recordkeeping and patient confidentiality: Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.</li><li>
Callbacks: Complete patient medication callbacks</li><li>
Person-centered care: Through promotion of shared decision-making between the patient and health-care provider while reinforcing respect for the patient&rsquo;s values and preferences as they make decisions about their treatment. Integrate culturally responsive care and inclusiveness.</li><li>
Collaboration: With both internal and external multidisciplinary teams to provide nursing consultation and guidance regarding the health needs of potential and current patients.</li><li>
Trauma Informed Care: Promote person-centered and trauma-informed care grounded in the use of non-stigmatizing principles and language.</li><li>
Infection Prevention: Strict adherence to universal or standard infection control precautions as promoted by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.</li><li>
Patient Emergencies: Follow ETS policies and procedures which outline how to respond to patient emergencies, including when to contact 911 for emergency medical services and when to contact 988 or local crisis numbers for mental health or substance use-related crises.</li><li>
Patients&rsquo; Rights and Informed Consent: Be familiar with informed consent policies at ETS to address any patient questions during the delivery of patient care. Informed consent supports treatment by ensuring patients have a clear understanding of medication side effects and risks, patient responsibilities, and ETS policies. All ETS staff will promote a sense of safety among patients and ensure that they are treated with dignity and respect.</li><li>
Continuity of Care: Facilitate the continuity of care during transitions of care to minimize the possibility of disruption in access to services.</li></ul>
Adverse Events &amp; Incident Reporting:<ul><li>
Compliance with regulations. Adhering to nursing regulations at local, state, and federal levels. Adhere to relevant legal and ethical guidelines.</li><li>
Continuous Quality Improvement: Participate in quality assurance and quality control plans.</li><li>
Mandatory Reporting: Per local, state, and federal regulations.</li><li>
Patient Safety: The RN is always responsible for providing safe, competent nursing care. Assess safety and risk to self or others and take appropriate crisis intervention measures when indicated.</li><li>
Patient Advocate: Act as patient advocate in health maintenance and clinical care.</li><li>
Patient Information Protection: Follow all policies and procedures with regard to patient confidentiality, including mental health and alcohol-drug patient confidentiality (42 CFR) and HIPAA (45 CFR) and per ETS policy.</li></ul>
Dispensary Operations:<ul><li>
Medication Units: Work under the supervision and direction of the Medical Directors, Program Sponsor, and the Nursing leadership team.</li><li>
Maintain registered nursing professional standards of care. Demonstrate professionalism by adhering to the standard code of conduct and performance standards.</li><li>
Medication Inventory and Accounting: Properly manage and account for controlled substance inventories during each shift.</li><li>
Accurate Recordkeeping: Required for all controlled substances within each medication unit, dispensed records and all other associated records.</li><li>
Participate in internal regulatory audits including DEA, DOH, PQAC, SAMHSA, SOTA, and others.</li><li>
Submit Qstatim reports if indicated, including attending care team meetings and participating in developing corrective action plans.</li><li>
Participate in departmental and interdepartmental care team meetings, staff meetings, and provide updates.</li><li>
Provide new hire staff training as assigned.</li><li>
Policies and Procedures: Adhere to all ETS policies and procedures.</li><li>
Facilitates Learning: Fosters a learning environment for the patient, nursing team, and other members of the healthcare team, including students.</li><li>
Aligns Practice with Safety and Quality: Accountable for safety, identifies and corrects problems, integrates evidence, and best practice into nursing care; uses data and evidence to improve patient outcomes.</li><li>
Engages in Professional Development: Engages in ongoing professional development; practices to the top of license within the legal parameters of the Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and specialty standards. Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations, including DEA and DOH requirements.</li><li>

Location - Olympia Clinic and Mobile Units
Schedule - Tues. - Sat. 5 AM - 3 PM (Candidates must be available to work 40 hours/week within this schedule)

Job Summary:
The Addiction Treatment Nurse-LPN role is part of the Nursing team that supports ETS&rsquo; mission through patient care and medication management.
This role makes a critical difference at ETS by providing services to patients that can be lifesaving. Nurses provide compassionate and nonjudgmental care to all patients seeking treatment.
What you contribute to this role &ndash; Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Help ETS succeed in carrying out our mission through working together with other staff to transform systems of harm and inequity to create different approaches to improving community health and safety through addressing substance use and homelessness.?</li><li>
Assist with the organization-wide initiative to reimagine our interconnectedness within our community to overcome the aspects of our society and organizational culture shaped by white supremacy and settler colonialism.</li><li>
Prepares dispensing pump for dosing.</li><li>
Calibrates dispensing pump.</li><li>
Dispense appropriate medication using the 6 medication rights: right patient, medication, dose, time, route, and documentation.</li><li>
Properly manage, monitor, and document the medication inventories each shift.</li><li>
Reconciles inventory of all medications at end of shift.</li><li>
Prints daily reports, signs, and properly files them.</li><li>
Contact Medical Provider for any dose changes and properly documents in the EHR.</li><li>
Coordinates Guest dosing ensuring dose verifications are completed.</li><li>
Accurately records patient medical notes in the electronic health record.</li><li>
Attend meetings as directed by Nursing Leadership.</li><li>
Collaborate with Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, or Medical Providers for patient care, orders, or clarification.</li><li>
Address any dosing discrepancies with Nursing Leadership and begin corrective action as needed.</li><li>
Collaborate with outside agencies to provide continuity of care.</li><li>
Ensure medication count is accurate at the beginning and end of shift.</li><li>
Patient education regarding treatment and medications.</li><li>
Completing nurse assessment and monitoring for impairment. Assessing for dyskinesia, sedation, or intoxication prior to administering medication.</li><li>
Assessing patients for safety and risk to self or others and taking appropriate crisis intervention measure when indicated.</li><li>
Collaborates interdepartmentally to ensure continuity of care.</li><li>
Completes call backs to verify medication management is in alliance with treatment plan.</li></ul>

Requirements:

Credential (License, Certification, Provider One, etc.)<ul><li>
Practice Nurse License (LPN)</li></ul>
Education and/or Relevant and Lived Experience (if applicable):<ul><li>
Completed a state approved nursing program: Vocational or Associate Diploma.</li><li>
Passed the NCLEX-PN exam.</li></ul>
Knowledge and Skills:<ul><li>
An understanding of racial justice and social equity and a commitment to helping create an equitable environment for all ETS clients and patients as well as fellow staff.</li><li>
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, patients, and staff from a wide variety of ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.</li><li>
Strong interpersonal skills and verbal/ written communication skills.</li><li>
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload, work independently, and complete tasks timely and efficiently.</li><li>
Dependable, able to work under pressure, receptive to change, willingness to learn, cooperative approach to problem solving.</li><li>
Flexible team player, with excellent attention to detail.</li><li>
Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when handling highly sensitive information.</li><li>
Ability to set boundaries, resolve conflict and de-escalate issues.</li><li>
Computer literate, Suite (or equivalent suites such as Google Workspace), as well as a high level of initiative in keeping current with technological change.? Skills needed include basic functions such as utilizing MS Outlook email and calendaring programs (or equivalent) and sending attachments, using MS Teams or equivalent chat, call and videoconference features, and navigating search engines such as Edge or Google and carrying out browser searches and website benchmarking steps.</li></ul>

Physical Conditions and Requirements:<ul><li>
The employee may be exposed to illicit drug residues and fumes or other bio-hazardous materials when carrying out job functions. There is also potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens. ?ETS will provide employees with appropriate training to limit the risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Policies and procedures are in place addressing each item specifically.</li><li>
The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear; frequently required to stand, walk, and kneel; occasionally to climb balance, or stoop; rarely to crouch or crawl.</li><li>
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, color, and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.</li><li>
Comfort working within a busy area in proximity with other nursing staff.</li></ul>
Equipment Used:<ul><li>
Computer, photocopier, fax machine, phone, and breathalyzer, EKG, glucometer, and other small medical devices.</li><li>
Possible use of a program vehicle, for which a valid Driver&rsquo;s License and acceptable driving would be required.</li></ul>
