<p>Position Summary:</p>
<p>
We are seeking an accomplished and innovative Nuclear Physicist specializing in high-energy plasma physics and fusion systems. The ideal candidate will lead pioneering research and development of advanced plasma confinement, ignition mechanisms, and propulsion systems for next-generation nuclear technologies. This role demands expertise in both experimental and computational plasma physics to drive breakthroughs in sustainable nuclear fusion and aerospace propulsion applications. Active TS/SCI CI security clearance is mandatory.</p>

<p>Research &amp; Development:</p>
<div>
<ul><li>Develop and optimize novel hybrid plasma confinement systems for advanced fusion reactors.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Explore alternative ignition mechanisms to achieve sustainable, scalable fusion reactions.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Implement ultra-high-density plasma sustainment techniques to extend fusion stability and performance.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Design and deploy intelligent plasma control systems leveraging AI/ML for real-time optimization.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Innovate plasma heating methodologies, including advanced RF and laser-driven approaches.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Conduct theoretical modeling, numerical simulations, and experimental validation of plasma systems.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Lead R&amp;D on magnetoplasmadynamic (MPD) propulsion technologies for aerospace applications.</li></ul>
</div>
<p></p><p>Collaboration &amp; Leadership:</p>
<div>
<ul><li>Work closely with interdisciplinary teams including nuclear engineers, materials scientists, and aerospace engineers to ensure cohesive project development.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international scientific forums.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Apply for and manage U.S. government grants related to nuclear and plasma physics research.</li></ul>

<p></p><p>Supervisory Responsibilities:</p>
<p>
May provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior scientists and engineers.</p>
<p></p>
<p>Qualifications:</p>
<p>
Education/Experience:</p>
<div>
<ul><li>Ph.D. in Plasma Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Minimum 15 years of professional experience in high-energy plasma physics and nuclear fusion research.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Proven hands-on experience with experimental fusion confinement systems.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Strong expertise in computational modeling and simulation of high-energy plasmas using tools such as COMSOL, MHD codes, and particle-in-cell simulations.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Demonstrated innovation in fusion ignition, plasma heating, and confinement system development.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Experience applying AI/ML techniques to plasma or nuclear systems is preferred.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Knowledge of magnetoplasmadynamic propulsion concepts.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Active TS/SCI CI U.S. government-issued security clearance required prior to start.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Experience with U.S. grant application processes for nuclear research funding.</li></ul>

<ul><li>Expertise in quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, and thermodynamics as applied to nuclear fusion processes.</li></ul>
