In this role you will work as part of a team to provide independent expert analysis and scientific support to senior consultants on diverse projects related to epidemiology, exposure assessment, and human health risks from environmental, occupational, and consumer product exposures, as well as epidemiologic evaluations involving pharmaceutical products. You will be mentored by other consultants within the practice and will have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across other science and engineering practices at Exponent.</div>

Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Manager level and above total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.</div><div><br>

This person will have opportunities to collaborate with other Exponent practice areas.</div>

Providing toxicology support to regulatory and technical staff (industrial, pesticide/agricultural, consumer, food, and veterinary medicine products)</li><li>
Authoring waiver submissions and position papers</li><li>
Placing and monitoring toxicology studies at contract research organizations</li><li>
Contributing to the development of complex technical reports</li><li>

Strong writing and editing skills are required with an expectation of being able to independently prepare technical documents that will be placed under external review</li><li>

We are currently seeking an <b>Associate/Engineer</b> for our <b>Thermal Sciences</b> Practice in <b>Philadelphia, PA</b>. In this role you will provide technical expertise and guidance to internal and external clients. You will work as part of a team to perform failure analysis and provide design support for complex problems involving fluid flow, heat transfer, mass transport, combustion, and thermodynamics. Projects will span many industries, including oil &amp; gas, power generation and distribution, automotive, consumer products, medical devices, battery systems, and more. Specific duties will include planning and executing experimental test programs, conducting fieldwork and inspections, preparing proposals and technical reports, presenting to clients, and developing new clients.</div>
You will be responsible for:
<ul><li>Applying your technical knowledge to investigate failures of mechanical and chemical systems</li><li>
Designing and constructing test apparatuses</li><li>
Thermal design analysis
</li><li>Heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics analysis</li><li>
Conducting field work, such as off-site testing or attending evidence inspections</li><li>
Reviewing and summarizing background information pertaining to failure events</li><li>
Writing reports, preparing presentations, and presenting results to the client</li><li>
Identifying and marketing to internal and external clients
</li></ul>You will have the following skills and qualifications:
<ul><li>Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
</li><li>Strong technical background in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, combustion, and thermodynamics</li><li>
Hands-on experience in managing and executing experimental programs, including troubleshooting experimental test setups</li><li>
Outstanding verbal and written communications skills</li><li>
A desire and the flexibility to tackle a wide variety of problems within and outside your direct area of expertise</li><li>
