<div>Performs various front desk and phlebotomy duties in an ambulatory laboratory setting including such functions as complete demographic and insurance registration, scheduling patients and/or verifying insurance information, phlebotomy specimen collection and quality checks of samples. Must be fully certified in patient registration and phlebotomy; and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
<ul>
<li>Demonstrates knowledge of FPI and its practices, including payer contracts, policies and best practices.</li>
<li>Exhibits mid-level of skill in managing provider schedules and scheduling appointments accurately and effectively, including communicating patient responsibilities (obtaining a referral, bringing a co-pay, presenting identification and an insurance card at check in) and other events as part of the practice pre-visit activities.</li>
<li>Demonstrates the ability and understanding of FPI policy for cash collection and patient encounter, including collecting co-payments, outstanding balances and posting accurately and efficiently in GE Front Desk Credit Card Module.</li>
<li>Demonstrates a working knowledge of the revenue cycle as it relates to patient encounters and obtaining/verifying patient demographic and insurance information in order to receive payment for services rendered.</li>
<li>Observes and applies relevant FPI and departmental policies and procedures. Observes and promotes positive guest relations. Demonstrates courtesy and open communications with patients and referral sources.</li>
<li>Confirms all written orders on the requisition match specimen label.</li>
<li>Identifies any special instructions that have been written on the requisition and clarifies before performing venipuncture.</li>
<li>Ensures patient has been appropriately identified according to the laboratory SOP.</li>
</ul>
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
<ul>
<li>High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred</li>
<li>Completion of an accredited program in Phlebotomy</li>
<li>More than 10 years of Phlebotomy experience</li>
<li>3-4 years medical office experience</li>
<li>General understanding and application of basic accounting principles</li>
<li>PC proficiency</li>
<li>Strong customer service skills</li>
<li>Accurate data entry skills</li>
<li>Current knowledge of payer requirements for referrals and pre-authorization</li>
<li>Knowledge of computerized billing system</li>
</ul>

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland&rsquo;s Faculty Physician&rsquo;s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications. Laboratory Practice Representative III- Pathology

<div>Under the direction and supervision of a licensed physician, provides patient care for FPI practices. Performs professional duties and technical procedures of the particular area of specialty to provide health care services, such as, operative procedures, suturing, and injections. Makes initial diagnosis and order appropriate tests and treatment. Assists in surgery where applicable; and other duties as assigned. 
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
<ul>
<li>Graduation from a Physician Assistant Training Program approved by the Board of Physician Quality Assurance is required</li>
<li>National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required</li>
<li>Licensure by Maryland State Board of Physicians as a Physician&rsquo;s Assistant is required</li>
<li>A minimum of two years of neonatal nursing or clinical experience in a NICU setting is strongly preferred</li>
<li>Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) provider status is required; opportunity to become an NRP instructor if not already certified.</li>
<li>CPR required</li>
<li>BLS required</li>
<li>ACLS and/or other relevant certifications as required by the department</li>
<li>Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit</li>
