Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in political science, journalism, communications, public administration, or relevant field.</li><li>
Three (3) years of experience in high level strategic, analytical, and/or supervisorial functions to support research and policy analysis, constituent services, legislative support, communications and community relations, or other similar projects, and initiatives.<ul><li>
Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.</li></ul></li><li>
Knowledge of the principles, and practices of administrative, business, or legislative office management.</li><li>
Knowledge of how to maintain and optimize social media vehicles, to include technical skills and ability to determine appropriate content to share.</li><li>
Familiarity with the functions and activities of county, state, and federal agencies.</li><li>
Proficiency in the use of office technology, including spreadsheet, presentation, and desktop publishing software.</li><li>
Proficiency with data compilation, analysis, and reporting.</li><li>
Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality.</li><li>
Ability to deal tactfully and respectfully at all levels.</li><li>
Ability to work under pressure to meet time constraints and deadlines.</li><li>

</div><div><p><b>Major Duties/Essential Functions</b></p>
<div><ul><li>Performs sensitive, confidential, and complex responsibilities in direct support of a School Board member, ensuring discretion, accuracy, and efficiency in all tasks.</li><li>
Drives research efforts, analyzes complex issues, and provides strategic insights on matters brought to the Board member's office, ensuring alignment with regulations, policies, and procedures.
</li><li>Develops presentations, reports, charts, and other materials, identifying and prioritizing key issues.</li><li>
Guides and oversees the research and execution of special projects, ensuring alignment with School Board priorities.</li><li>
Interprets and advises on regulations and procedures, ensuring compliance and providing clarity to stakeholders.</li><li>
Facilitates focus groups and community meetings, driving engagement efforts to gather data for research, assess constituent needs, and inform policy discussions.</li><li>
Proactively briefs the Board member on critical updates, trends, and legislative agendas related to public education, as well as local, state, and federal regulations and laws.</li><li>
Provides written recommendations or position papers based on analysis as required.</li><li>
Oversees administrative functions, including handling correspondence, calls, and visitors; drafting and reviewing responses for accuracy; tracking and following up on actions; maintaining the Board member's calendar; arranging travel; and assisting with reimbursements.</li><li>
Provides technical assistance to Board member as needed.</li><li>
Interfaces with the Leadership Team, the School Board, school personnel, state/county/local government officials, business groups, community groups, vendors, and constituents of Fairfax County.</li><li>
Collaborates and promotes engagement to progress the School Board's work including, but not limited to, outreach; scheduling of community and constituent meetings; and assisting in preparing for and attending community, School Board, and FCPS events/meetings, as required by the School Board member.</li><li>
Oversees constituent communications, managing and maintaining the Board member's FCPS communication platforms, including social media, websites, and newsletters, ensuring consistent and effective messaging.</li><li>
Works a schedule that may vary weekly depending on needs of the Board member.</li><li>
Performs related duties as required or assigned.</li></ul></div>
