We are currently seeking inquisitive, forward-thinking candidates for the role of Associate General Counsel.</div><div></div><div>
The Office of the General Counsel serves a critical role and maintains strong relationships throughout the organization. The Associate General Counsel will provide legal advice, counsel, leadership, and oversight for a wide range of legal matters affecting FHI 360 and its subsidiaries. Such matters include but are not limited to overseas employment law, government contracting, commercial contracting, risk management, and corporate governance in international operations. The Associate General Counsel will report to the General Counsel and serve as an integral member of the high performing legal team.</div><div></div><div><i>
This position has the option to be remote, but successful candidates will need to be located in either the Washington, DC or Durham, NC areas. Please note that a cover letter is required to be considered for this position.</i></div><div></div><div>
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:</div><div></div><div>
Complexity &amp; Problem Solving:</div><ul><li><div>
Serves as the legal liaison to organizational units and senior executives on legal, administrative and management issues.</div></li><li><div>
Provides legal advice and counsel to a range of staff members, including members of the Executive Team.</div></li><li><div>
Manages outside counsel overseas.</div></li><li><div>
Tracks relevant legal developments, formulates courses of action, drafts correspondence and /or policies and procedures to resolve legal, procedural, or administrative issues and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.</div></li><li><div>
Finds opportunities to advance the organization in complex areas and mitigate legal risk.</div></li><li><div>
Leads efforts across the organization, including but not limited to legal staff, operations staff, and communications staff, to keep them abreast of and enlist their support for priority initiatives.</div></li><li><div>
Interacts with funding, government, and regulatory agencies to represent the interests of the organization.</div></li><li><div>
Through everyday actions, contributes to an organizational culture of diversity, equity and inclusion and a dedication to social change, and commitment to improvement and innovation.</div></li><li><div>
Supports the management of the legal function and risk assessment work.</div></li><li><div>

Minimum Qualifications:</div><ul><li><div>
Juris Doctor or its international equivalent from a recognized school of law. Degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.</div></li><li><div>
7+ years of experience with a law firm, government and/or in-house legal department.</div></li><li><div>
Experience working in international contexts.</div></li><li><div>
Validated legal expertise in two or more relevant areas and curiosity about learning more (overseas employment law, government contracting, commercial contracting, risk management, and corporate governance in international operations.)</div></li><li><div>
Prior in-house legal department experience strongly preferred.</div></li></ul><div></div><div>
Certifications:</div><ul><li><div>
Licensed to practice law in one or more jurisdictions within the United States.</div></li></ul><div></div><div>
Preferred Qualifications:</div><ul><li><div>

The expected US-based hiring salary range for this role is listed below. FHI 360 pay ranges represent national averages that vary by geographic location. When determining an offer amount, FHI 360 factors in multiple considerations, including but not limited to: relevant years of experience and education possessed by the applicant, internal equity, business sector, and budget.</i></div><div></div><div><i><br>
Base salary is only one component of our offer. FHI 360 contributes 7% of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account. Additionally, all US based staff working full-time, which is calculated at 40 hours/week, receive 18 days of paid vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 11 holidays per year. Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than a full-time schedule.</i></div><div></div><div><i><br>
US Based Hiring Salary Range: USD $150,000 - $190,000 annually</i></div><div><i>
