Internship Overview
The Accounting &amp; Finance Intern will gain a deep understanding of the financial operations of a high-growth, multi-site enterprise. You will work within our primary financial systems to ensure accuracy in payroll, vendor relations, and financial reporting. This role is designed for a detail-oriented student looking to master the complexities of retail accounting, tax compliance, and cash flow management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Payroll &amp; Incentive Accounting<ul><li>
Bonus Verification: Learn to manage monthly and quarterly bonus workbooks, ensuring that performance-based pay for site teams is calculated accurately.</li></ul>
2. Accounts Payable (AP) &amp; Vendor Management<ul><li>
Full-Cycle AP: Assist in preparing weekly vendor payments, managing purchase orders, and tracking work order expenses through our ledger.</li><li>
Compliance &amp; Logistics: Maintain up-to-date vendor records, including the collection of W9s and Certificates of Insurance (COIs) to mitigate company risk.</li></ul>
3. Accounts Receivable (AR) &amp; B2B Accounting<ul><li>
Fleet Management: Manage the Customer List, applying payments from B2B fleet accounts and corporate partners.</li><li>
Guest Financials: Facilitate the release of payments for approved damage claims, guest refunds, and local fundraiser payouts.</li></ul>
4. General Ledger &amp; Month-End Close<ul><li>
Reconciliation: Work alongside the finance team to reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts.</li><li>
Cash Flow Forecasting: Participate in the forecasting process for AP bills to ensure the company maintains optimal liquidity.</li><li>
Variance Analysis: Assist the CFO in investigating expense and revenue trends, helping to identify &quot;why&quot; a site over-performed or under-performed against its budget.</li></ul>
5. Tax &amp; Regulatory Compliance<ul><li>
Governmental Filings: Gain exposure to the preparation of Monthly Sales Tax filings, Unemployment Tax reporting, and Workers&rsquo; Compensation audits.</li></ul>
Requirements<ul><li>
Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.</li><li>
Software Skills: Proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs)
</li><li>Numerical Accuracy: A high degree of precision when handling financial data and a &quot;detective&quot; mindset for finding variances.</li><li>
Professionalism: Ability to communicate clearly with both vendors and internal department heads.</li></ul></div>
