<p><b>SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b>:</p>
<p>
This Correctional Officer Lieutenant position is located at Liberty Correctional Institution. The incumbent in this position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, Florida Administrative Code. The Officer assigned to this position has responsibility for supervising Correctional Officers and Correctional Officer Sergeants assigned to any security post on any of the established shifts. This position serves as the initial commander during emergency situations. Functions as facility manager during non-administrative hours.</p>
<p>
Duties include but are not limited to the following:</p>
<p>
Plans, organizes and coordinates the activities of all Correctional Officers and Correctional Officer Sergeants assigned to a shift. Delegates post assignments, specific duty assignments, coordinates leave use and ensures accurate completion of attendance and leave reports. Works with employees to ensure proper security coverage. Conducts periodic individual counseling with staff to outline problem areas and to give additional duties or instructions. May take or recommend non-appealable disciplinary action or recommend appealable disciplinary action to higher level management.</p>
<p>
Supervises searches for contraband and makes daily inspections of buildings and grounds. Inspects physical plant for security concerns and to maintain proper sanitation standards. Circulates throughout institution observing officers&rsquo; performance. Conducts performance evaluations. Schedules and/or coordinates training programs for subordinates. Conducts continuous training of subordinate staff in security procedures.</p>
<p>
Supervises and coordinates body cavity searches as authorized by the Warden, Assistant Warden or Chief Correctional Officer. Authorizes non-emergency applications of use of force per DC Rule 33-3.0065(3).</p>
<p>
Supervises inmates at the level of risk they present. Manages inmate housing areas, enforces rules and sanitation standards. Transports inmates using approved restraints and observing relevant laws, policies and procedures. Conducts accurate head counts, maintains custody and control over inmates at appointments outside the secured perimeter and escorts inmates within the secured perimeter.</p>

Performs crisis intervention functions to include, but not limited to restraining violent or uncooperative inmates, defending persons against attack, and preventing escapes, using approved deadly or non-deadly force, restraints or other approved methods. Provides emergency assistance during emergencies, disasters and accidents to include, but not limited to, CPR, first aid, implementation of evacuation procedures, security of inmates and/or areas in accordance with the emergency situation.</p>
<p>
Conducts inspections and visual and audio surveillance of persons, property, vehicles, building and outdoor areas. Physically checks doors, windows, gates, barred sections, fences and other areas to ensure proper security.</p>

Attends mandatory and other training.</p>

DESCRIPTION</b></p>

The incumbent in this position is responsible for supervising, surveilling and maintaining a specialized caseload consisting of youthful offenders, drug offender probation, community controlees, pre-trial intervention offenders, offender releases or any combination of the above. As workload demands require, this position may be required to supervise other types or classifications of offenders. The incumbent may also perform duties relating to the intake officer, court liaison officer, trainer and electronic monitoring device installer. This position may also direct and supervise a correctional probation officer at a probation and restitution center and may involve monitoring a residential treatment facility and being the on-site departmental representative supervising the program participants.
</div><p><b>EXAMPLES OF WORK</b></p>

Encourages and fosters offender compliance with the supervision order through guidance, goal setting, monitoring of offender behavior and supervision in the community.</div><br>

</div><div>Conducts field and office supervision visits via personal contact, collateral/community contacts, surveillance contacts, telephone contacts and electronic methods to ensure compliance with conditions of supervision and to provide assistance to offenders as appropriate.</div><br>

</div><div>Conducts pre-sentence, pre-trial, post-sentence, interstate compact, sentencing guidelines and other required investigations on offenders. Makes recommendations on offenders under supervision or pending disposition to the sentencing or releasing authorities regarding continued supervision, revocation, diversion and incarceration.</div><br>

</div><div>Exhibits appropriate demeanor and knowledge as a representative of department. Attends hearings or appears as a witness in any proceedings before a sentencing or releasing authority making determinations regarding offenders under supervision. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</b>:</p>

<li>Must have completed the basic recruit training course for correctional officers and have one year of experience as a certified officer with the State of Florida,</li>

<li>Must not have received an involuntary demotion within the past 24 months,</li>
<li>Must not have received less than a 3.00 rating on a performance evaluation within the past 3 fiscal years.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b>:</p>
<p>
This Correctional Officer Lieutenant position is located at Union Correctional Institution. The incumbent in this position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, Florida Administrative Code. The Officer assigned to this position has responsibility for supervising Correctional Officers and Correctional Officer Sergeants assigned to any security post on any of the established shifts. This position serves as the initial commander during emergency situations. Functions as facility manager during non-administrative hours.</p>
<p>
Duties include but are not limited to the following:</p>
<p>
Plans, organizes and coordinates the activities of all Correctional Officers and Correctional Officer Sergeants assigned to a shift. Delegates post assignments, specific duty assignments, coordinates leave use and ensures accurate completion of attendance and leave reports. Works with employees to ensure proper security coverage. Conducts periodic individual counseling with staff to outline problem areas and to give additional duties or instructions. May take or recommend non-appealable disciplinary action or recommend appealable disciplinary action to higher level management.</p>
<p>
Supervises searches for contraband and makes daily inspections of buildings and grounds. Inspects physical plant for security concerns and to maintain proper sanitation standards. Circulates throughout institution observing officers&rsquo; performance. Conducts performance evaluations. Schedules and/or coordinates training programs for subordinates. Conducts continuous training of subordinate staff in security procedures.</p>
<p>
Supervises and coordinates body cavity searches as authorized by the Warden, Assistant Warden or Chief Correctional Officer. Authorizes non-emergency applications of use of force per DC Rule 33-3.0065(3).</p>
<p>
Supervises inmates at the level of risk they present. Manages inmate housing areas, enforces rules and sanitation standards. Transports inmates using approved restraints and observing relevant laws, policies and procedures. Conducts accurate head counts, maintains custody and control over inmates at appointments outside the secured perimeter and escorts inmates within the secured perimeter.</p>
<p>
Performs crisis intervention functions to include, but not limited to restraining violent or uncooperative inmates, defending persons against attack, and preventing escapes, using approved deadly or non-deadly force, restraints or other approved methods. Provides emergency assistance during emergencies, disasters and accidents to include, but not limited to, CPR, first aid, implementation of evacuation procedures, security of inmates and/or areas in accordance with the emergency situation.</p>
<p>
Conducts inspections and visual and audio surveillance of persons, property, vehicles, building and outdoor areas. Physically checks doors, windows, gates, barred sections, fences and other areas to ensure proper security.</p>
<p>
Attends mandatory and other training.</p>
<p>
Performs other related duties as required.</p>
