Position SummaryPrepare detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings and assembly instructions for piping and equipment systems including pumps, valves, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and related structures. Work closely with engineers to translate specifications and design intent into production ready documentation.Essential FunctionsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.<ul><li>Maintain reliable attendance during scheduled shifts and overtime, arriving on time and ready to work.</li><li>Create 3D models and production drawings using computer-aided drafting software (Revit preferred).</li><li>Lay out and plan interior arrangements for modular or field-installed mechanical systems such as chiller plants, boiler plants, mechanical pump skids, refrigeration skids, and air handling units.</li><li>Produce detailed scaled plans for mechanical piping systems, ductwork, conduit, electrical panels, structural steel, bases, walls, roofs, and related assemblies from preliminary sketches or engineering data.</li><li>Coordinate structural, electrical, and mechanical design interfaces under engineer supervision.</li><li>Read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&amp;IDs); understand equipment function, operation, and installation constraints.</li><li>Develop piping layouts for chilled water, hot water, domestic water, natural gas, fuel oil, venting, and combustion air systems based on equipment data and space requirements.</li><li>Analyze construction and space limitations to determine impacts on design.</li><li>Collect and organize data necessary to complete designs.</li><li>Assist engineers by verifying design conformance to specifications and recommending design adjustments when required.</li><li>Check dimensions, materials, and tolerances for accuracy and manufacturability.</li><li>Coordinate with manufacturing and fabrication teams to ensure drawings accurately reflect construction details.</li><li>Perform additional related duties as assigned.</li></ul>Position QualificationsCompetencies:<ul><li>Accuracy: Performs work thoroughly and correctly.</li><li>Detail-Oriented: Pays close attention to fine details in designs and documentation.</li><li>Organization: Follows structured workflows and maintains clear documentation.</li><li>Safety Awareness: Recognizes and addresses unsafe design or layout conditions.</li><li>Analytical Thinking: Uses logic and reasoning to solve design challenges.</li><li>Time Management: Efficiently manages workload and meets deadlines</li></ul>Skills &amp; AbilitiesEducation: High school diploma required. Technical secondary education or 3D modeling certification preferred.Experience: 10&ndash;15 years of related experience in HVAC, plumbing, or piping system design. Strong background in mechanical system modeling and detailing using 3D software required.Computer Skills: Minimum 5 years of experience using Revit or Fabrication CADmep. Proficiency in SolidWorks, Navisworks, or equivalent 3D design software required.
