SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Responsible for managing, directing, and coordinating manufacturing and operations activities to accomplish company goals and objectives. The position is responsible for ensuring on-time delivery, quality, and operational efficiency. You will interface with engineering, quality, customers, and suppliers to meet the objectives of both our customers and our company. This person will leverage his/her experience with machine best practices to quickly assess and resolve complex problems and lead the team to achieve department production goals consistently with the cost, quality, and delivery requirements of the business.<ul><li>
Manages and supports supervisors in the direct manufacturing of products. Responsible for overall direction, coordination and evaluation of those units.</li><li>
Responsible for organizing and directing a team approach among direct reports to maximize throughput, improve manufacturing products in a state of control and to control operating expenses.</li><li>
Responsible for developing a responsive, flexible manufacturing operation to meet the changing demands of our customer base.</li><li>
Establishes quality control standards throughout the entire manufacturing process by developing or revising standard operating procedures with the assistance of quality control management to ensure consistent products.</li><li>
Reviews and coordinates production activities with product development and quality control to ensure new products are developed in a state of control.</li><li>
Reviews and analyzes production remakes and customer complaints to determine the cause of non-conformance and correction action needed and ensures appropriate production personnel are trained in preventative actions.</li><li>
Confers with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote improved and expanded manufacturing capabilities and services.</li><li>
Develop and/or monitor Key Performance Indicators and ensure adequate management reporting on the performance of the area.</li><li>
Manage expenditures to achieve budgeted targets. Ensure production is run efficiently, waste is kept to a minimum and equipment is maintained to company standards.</li><li>
Manage cost improvement initiatives to achieve ongoing operational cost optimization. Interacts with other managers and subordinates on continuous improvement of processes and employee performance.</li><li>
Accountable for quality of products, subordinates&rsquo; behavior, and performance and makes sound decisions concerning production, quality, and interpersonal relations on a multi-shift basis.</li><li>
Implement the Company&rsquo;s environmental, health and safety programs in all departments/units within your respective operations.</li><li>
Maintain and improve FMI&rsquo;s Integrated Management System.</li><li>
Understand the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, as applicable to your role.</li></ul>
Qualifications:<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree or MBA preferred with 7-10 years of operations management experience in a contemporary manufacturing environment, including applicable experience in planning and quality. CNC Machining experience is a plus (or equivalent combination of education and experience).</li><li>
10-15 years of operations management experience in a contemporary manufacturing environment, including applicable experience in planning and quality. CNC Machining experience a plus.</li><li>
Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment.</li><li>
Experience with operational excellence, lean, and Six Sigma or similar efficiency improvement program is preferred.</li><li>
Proven track record in controlling costs to budget, preferably manufacturing variance management.</li><li>
Must possess and demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities and be a motivator of people.</li><li>
Must possess and demonstrate the ability to direct individuals and delegate responsibilities and tasks.</li><li>
Must be computer literate and able to utilize MS Office, spreadsheets ERP systems, etc.</li><li>
Must possess and demonstrate knowledge and experience in cGMPs and relevant Safety Regulations.</li><li>
Must be able to interact effectively with a variety of individuals within and between departments.</li></ul>

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Responsible for overseeing and executing all aspects of materials management across one to two manufacturing sites. This role ensures the effective procurement and flow of materials, with a strong emphasis on expense and outside processing (OP) purchasing, vendor management, and cross-functional collaboration. The Materials Manager will also play a key role in supporting customer interactions and ensuring alignment with quality standards. Managing processes necessary to ensure all customer requirements are properly addressed.<ul><li>
Lead and manage all materials-related functions for assigned site(s), including oversight of site-level buyers and alignment with purchasing strategies.</li><li>
Oversee and execute expense and outside processing (OP) purchasing activities to meet production and operational requirements.</li><li>
Manage vendor relationships, including pricing reviews, changes in vendor pricing, and escalation resolution to ensure timely material delivery.</li><li>
Maintain accurate materials databases and ensure traceability of materials in compliance with ISO 9001 standards and the company&rsquo;s Quality Management System (QMS).</li><li>
Ensure effective use of database tools, including leveraging MRP-driven buying suggestions, and continuously refine database accuracy and performance using system tools.</li><li>
Monitor backlog and ensure timely procurement and scheduling of materials to meet customer requirements.</li><li>
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Program Management, Operations, Engineering, and Quality, to align material planning with production schedules and resolve material-related issues.</li><li>
Support customer calls and meetings, providing updates on material availability, delivery timelines, and issue resolution.</li><li>
Proactively manage long lead-time components and implement risk mitigation strategies such as dual sourcing and buffer stock.</li><li>
Identify and implement cost savings opportunities through supplier negotiations, alternate sourcing, and value engineering initiatives.</li><li>
Oversee inventory performance, including responsibility for inventory turns, safety stock levels, and adherence to in-stock agreements.</li><li>
Manage vendor-managed inventory (VMI) and consignment programs to optimize supply chain efficiency and reduce working capital.</li><li>
Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for materials Team Members.</li></ul>
Qualifications:<ul><li>
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.</li><li>
8&ndash;10 years of experience in materials management, purchasing, or supply chain operations, preferably in a manufacturing environment.</li><li>
Strong knowledge of expense and OP purchasing processes.</li><li>
Proficiency in database management and ERP systems.</li><li>
Demonstrated experience in vendor negotiation, pricing analysis, and escalation management.</li><li>
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization and with external partners.</li><li>
Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills.</li><li>
APICS certification preferred.</li></ul>
