Job Title: SolidWorks/AutoCAD Designer &ndash; Process Equipment &amp; Piping Systems Location: Remote Job to do in India Job Type: Part-time / Freelance / Contract (Flexible based on availability) Industry: Mechanical Design &ndash; Food, Beverage &amp; Pharma EquipmentAbout Us: We are a Canada-based engineering and fabrication business specializing in stainless steel process equipment including tanks, skidded systems, and piping solutions. We are expanding our design team and seeking a skilled CAD designer to assist in creating technical drawings and supporting component-level design analysis.Responsibilities:<ul><li>Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models for:</li><li>Stainless steel tanks</li><li>Process piping layouts</li><li>Modular skidded systems</li><li>Structural support frames</li><li>Prepare manufacturing-ready fabrication drawings including weld details, BOMs, nozzle schedules, etc.</li><li>Work with advanced SolidWorks tools including:</li><li>Sheet Metal (including flat pattern development)</li><li>Weldments (structural frame design)</li><li>Routing (pipes and tubing)</li><li>Configurations and custom components</li><li>Assist in the design and analysis of tank components such as:</li><li>Mixer mounts</li><li>Tank vents</li><li>CIP sprayballs</li><li>Overflow and drain systems</li><li>Generate flat pattern layouts for laser cutting and fabrication.</li><li>Support design improvements, revisions, and modifications based on feedback or field conditions.</li><li>Collaborate with our Canadian engineering lead via Zoom/WhatsApp/Email for coordination and review.</li></ul>Requirements:<ul><li>Proficient in SolidWorks 3D modeling and 2D drafting</li><li>Skilled in AutoCAD (2D &amp; 3D drafting)</li><li>Ability to create universal sheet formats and drawing templates for standardization across projects</li><li>Experience developing fabrication drawings for tanks, skids, frames, and process equipment</li><li>Strong understanding of piping layouts, routing assemblies, and piping components (elbows, tees, valves, ferrules, clamps, etc.)</li><li>Knowledge of weld symbols, tolerances, and material specifications (especially stainless steel fabrication)</li><li>Experience preparing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and linking them to assemblies</li><li>Familiar with GD&amp;T, sheet metal, and weldment tools in SolidWorks</li><li>Ability to interpret P&amp;IDs, isometric drawings, and translate them into 3D assemblies</li><li>Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and shop-friendly detailing</li><li>Strong organizational and file management skills for maintaining drawing standards</li><li>Good understanding of sheet metal, tank fabrication, and piping design principles</li><li>Experience with mechanical drawings, GD&amp;T, and fabrication standards</li><li>Ability to read and interpret process schematics and structural layouts</li><li>Strong communication skills in English</li><li>Proactive, self-motivated, and committed to meeting deadlines</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Design</li><li>Experience in the food/pharma/chemical industry equipment design</li><li>Familiarity with ASME standards, sanitary fittings, or skid-based systems</li><li>Knowledge of FEA or tank design codes (an asset but not required)</li></ul>Compensation: Based on experience and engagement type (hourly/fixed/project-based).
