<div>Freese and Nichols is searching for an advanced OpenRoads Senior Designer experienced in Bentley OpenRoads Designer and Autodesk Civil 3D to contribute to rewarding projects in our Houston, Texas Water Resources Design group. The candidate will produce 3D models, drawings, and details for heavy civil infrastructure projects for County, State and Federal projects associated with riverbanks, coastal shorelines, dams, spillways, gates, levees, and other water resources structures. The candidate will assist with BIM/CAD workload coordination within the group and multi-state practice, and work alongside other BIM/CAD technicians and designers, civil engineers, and project managers. During the interview process, the candidate may be required to participate in a short and facilitated AutoCAD Civil 3D skills assessment.
Candidate Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Understands the project requirements, scope of work, and deliverables. Provides Practice level input.
</li><li>Prepares detail and layout drawings and sketches of unusual, complex, or original designs requiring the application of theoretical and practical engineering knowledge.
</li><li>Performs discipline design tasks which regularly require the application of fundamental engineering concept with limited input and direction from the engineer or architect.
</li><li>May provide conceptual input to projects during the planning stages.
</li><li>Interfaces with other Practices, groups, clients, vendors, and project engineers to support project production.
</li><li>Develops and implements new processes as required to ensure consistent quality.
</li><li>Works at the Practice level to ensure control on project models are properly set up, referenced, and maintained. Engage in Continuous Improvement by contributing ideas to improve model set up, standards, templates, and processes.
</li><li>Provides leadership taking a wholistic view of the project and makes independent project level decisions that are trusted by the engineers. Works under broad assignments guided by project scopes, annual operating plans, and practice-level plans. Accomplishments are performed with minimal supervision.
</li><li>Provides direction, assistance, and mentoring to BIM/CAD Technicians and Designers. Ensures project deliverables across the Practice are professional and consistent with prevailing standards, templates, and processes.
</li></ul><h1 class="jobSectionHeader">Qualifications
</h1><ul><li>11+ years of practice-level experience with a broad base in engineering design and technical engineering support
</li><li>Experience using Bentley&rsquo;s OpenRoads
</li><li>Experience using Bentley&rsquo;s ProjectWise
</li><li>Advanced expertise in computer operation and in BIM/CAD software
</li><li>Proven ability to learn, adapt, and problem solve to produce accurate and quality deliverables
</li><li>Ability to work with all levels of personnel
</li><li>Broad range of work, sometimes complex and non-routine, in a variety of environments
</li><li>Recommend design changes for improvements to the project
</li><li>Estimate and oversee BIM/CAD workload
</li><li>Able to overcome obstacles to help a project move along
</li><li>Able to convert written and verbal information into drawings
</li><li>Knowledge of company, industry, and technical vocabulary
</li><li>Coordinate with team members
</li><li>Produce concise, well-written materials and understand project scopes
</li><li>Create and conduct presentations and training
</li><li>High School diploma or equivalent
</li></ul>Preferred
<ul><li>BIM/CAD Associate's Degree or Certification
