<div>Friends of the Children&mdash;Los Angeles (Friends LA) is seeking a passionate and dedicated leader to serve as the Program Manager (PM) for the Metro South Los Angeles site. The PM will supervise Professional Mentors (Friends), facilitate comprehensive resource navigation, and support youth and their families in Metro South Los Angeles. Friends LA&rsquo;s model has been proven to break the cycle of generational poverty for children facing significant barriers, providing paid, professional mentors to thousands of youth nationwide.

The Program Manager will collaborate closely with the Program Director (PD) to ensure the delivery of high-quality mentoring, guided by our implementation, assessment, and evaluation of the two-generation (2Gen) support model. This role is primarily responsible for supporting Friends in their professional development and driving the growth of the program.

The ideal candidate is an innovative project manager with a strong connection to the communities we serve and a commitment to positively impacting the lives of children and families in Metro South L.A. Priority will be given to candidates who reside in the area and/or have extensive experience working within the community. 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position does have direct reports. 
CORE JOB DUTIES:
<ul>
<li>Supervise, inspire, develop, and evaluate efforts of Friends. Serve as role model and mentor for Friends, ensure that they have resources necessary to perform their jobs, act as a team facilitator and organizational motivator, and facilitate effective communication in all directions.</li>
<li>Know and understand the needs of the families served. Meet with supervised Friends, and review Roadmaps and Transition Plans for each child monthly. Assure that each Friend has helped develop a specific area of interest or talent for each child.</li>
<li>Manage the performance of supervised Friends, including completing and conducting annual and semi-annual performance appraisals with the PD. Hold Friends accountable for work performance, adequacy of time spent with children, quality, and diversity of activities with children, and administrative/reporting responsibilities.</li>
<li>Lead and facilitate effective, weekly team meetings ensuring focus on child and Friend successes, setbacks, issues, concerns, and ideas. Ensure focus on the communication of organizational information or issues to team and solicit feedback from team.</li>
<li>Review and assess data for accurate reporting and tracking, identify trends, and make recommendations for program modifications.</li>
<li>Collaborate with the PD and FED in planning, training, retention, and provide support to youth, families, and Friends.</li>
<li>Collect, record, and administer participant assessments and all other participant data for outcomes progress and grant data reporting.</li>
<li>Maintain efficient, confidential, and organized records; provide timely and appropriate case notes in our CRM database.</li>
<li>Help PD and FED identify resources and establish partnerships to strengthen and enhance the program and services to youth and families; Maintain partner service provider listserv by participating in regular networking opportunities.</li>
<li>Collaborate and strategize with parents to effectively partner with outside support systems and organizations.</li>
<li>Support the PD and FED with developing a pipeline of youth referrals for enrollment through partnership engagement.</li>
<li>Utilize program data to help develop, implement, and sustain enrichment activities and program excellence.</li>
<li>Develop trusting, supportive relationships with the youth and caregivers we serve.</li>
<li>Maintain partnerships with schools, services, and organizations to enhance youth&rsquo;s experience.</li></ul>

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of local public social services programs supporting youth and families; principles and practices of performance measurement and process improvement; principles of community needs and resources; goals and objectives of youth mentoring programs; current developments in the fields of social services or other similar human services and their impact on the systems involved youth; conflict resolution; and trauma-informed, culturally responsive services to youth and their families. 
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires a bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Human Services, Education, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited college or university. At least two years of practical and responsible program management in public social services or similar human services entity; or a combination of training, education, and required experience in supervising others in a team setting. 
LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data and documents. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the executive team, program staff, youth, and caregivers. 
COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Program Manager - Los Angeles

<div>Basic Function/Position Objective

Reporting to the Program Director, the Program Assistant will help the Program team execute program efficiency for the Metro South Los Angles location. The ideal candidate will have a previous office and nonprofit experience, strong attention to detail, and a positive, can-do approach.

The Program Assistant will be a hybrid role, with work in the office and with some occasional weekend work. The work is performed in an office setting and occasionally out in the field.
Essential Functions/Core Job Accountabilities:
<ul><li>Primary responsibility is to provide administrative support to program management and all program staff.
</li><li>Foster and maintain positive and professional relationships with community partners.
</li><li>Develop referral systems to ensure care coordination for youth and caregivers.
</li><li>Build partnerships with other programs, services, and organizations to enhance youth&rsquo;s experience.
</li><li>Facilitate ongoing assessment and program evaluation to ensure compliance with standards, work plans, and overall program quality.
</li><li>Maintain updated records, including youth files and reporting databases, to ensure confidentiality and compliance with monitoring standards.
</li><li>Support office upkeep by organizing, and overseeing office routines
</li><li>Aid in developing relationships with partner organizations to assist with event &amp; program enrollment.
</li><li>Attend and actively participate in meetings, coalitions, and other functions.
</li><li>Work with the Program Director to ensure program and initiative milestones are met.
</li><li>Maintain calendar invitations and send out reminders of impending appointments.
</li><li>Support Program Director on reports and program objectives.
</li><li>Support in enrolling of youth calling and scheduling meetings.
</li><li>Create and upkeep flyers, brochures PowerPoints and collateral material.
</li><li>Work with Office Manager on potential problems and implements solutions or refers issues/solutions to program management.
</li><li>Support team through pick up, drop off, and distribution of items to office, staff, and families.
</li><li>Model Friends LA's approach, mission, and core values in all communication and correspondence.
</li><li>Provide support during staff transitions.
</li><li>Perform related duties as assigned by the Program Director and the Family Engagement Director.
</li></ul>Required Qualifications 
<ul>
<li>Minimum education is a bachelor&rsquo;s degree in social or human services or related field from an accredited or state-approved college or university. At least one to three years in a social service setting or human services experience is highly desirable.
</li><li>A strong record of intercultural responsiveness, sensitivity and awareness, and cross-cultural communication skills.
</li><li>Resourceful and knowledgeable about the community where youth and families live, related resources, and other services.
</li><li>Experience working at a nonprofit organization is preferred.
</li><li>Fidelity/experience in maintaining confidential, accurate, and complete records and documentation.
</li><li>Willingness to be a team player with an attitude and aptitude for collaboration.
</li><li>Proficient with Microsoft Office software, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Zoom proficient.

<div>Friends of the Children &ndash; Los Angeles (Friends LA) is looking for a passionate, committed, professional mentor, who we call Friends, to support our mission to impact generational change by empowering youth who are facing the greatest obstacles through relationships with trained full-time professional mentors&mdash;12+ years&mdash;no matter what. Our model is proven to break the cycle of generational poverty for children who face the most barriers by providing paid professional mentors to thousands of youth across the country. 
Basic Function:
A Friend works intensively with eight (8) children and their families as a positive adult role model to develop a caring, trusting and sustained relationship with the whole family. A Friend will set positive expectations; nurture and promote their strengths, talents and abilities; help assure physical and emotional well-being; teach life and academic skills; provide enrichment activities; and model responsible behavior. A Friend will fully document activities and participate in an ongoing evaluation process. Friends will work primarily one-on-one with their children, and link and support their families to resources as appropriate. A Friend must also know, understand, honor and support the organization&rsquo;s mission, vision, values, principles and policies, and be able to clearly articulate the organization&rsquo;s function.

</li></ul>Working Hours:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Due to the nature of a Friend&rsquo;s role, the work hours may include late afternoon and evening work. We recognize that each Friend&rsquo;s daily work schedule may vary due to the uniqueness of the role and the needs of the individual children being served. Each Friend is expected to exercise appropriate discretion in this regard. The Program requires that you see each of your assigned children both in and outside of school, for an average of four hours each week, although how you accomplish that is at your discretion within established Program guidelines.

Education and Experience Required:

Associate&rsquo;s degree required; Bachelor&rsquo;s degree preferred, plus two to three years&rsquo; experience working/volunteering with children. Mentoring experience with children and understanding of the child welfare system preferred.
