Position Overview
Little Friends child care program, located on the campus of Friends School of Baltimore, has an opening for a full-time teacher. If you are a professional, enthusiastic, passionate, nurturing, caring, and kind individual, this is the place for you. We are looking for individuals who can provide quality care for children aged 2-3 years of age, all while making education fun and creative.
Primary Responsibilities<ul><li>
Manage all aspects of daily classroom activities, including age-appropriate curriculum 
planning, health, and safety; actively supervise children at all times, and maintain 
open communication with a team of teachers and with families</li><li>
Develop an emergent curriculum that provides multiple entry points for children and 
encourages their social and emotional growth, creating an exciting learning atmosphere.</li><li>
 Encourages children's emotional, social, and physical development and positive 
self-concept. Create a nurturing, enriching, age-appropriate learning environment for the 
classroom.</li><li>
Observe and document the children's progress and development.</li><li>
Learn, understand, and embrace the Quaker aspect of the school and use it daily 
through Morning Meetings, curriculum, classroom management, and all parent/child/employee interactions.</li><li>
 Greet the parents and build rapport; communicate with them about their child's day daily.</li><li>
Conduct professional parent conferences. Make suggestions for things parents can work on</li><li>
 Work collaboratively with the teaching team, administrators, and specialists.</li><li>
 Participate in staff meetings, professional development days, and teacher training.</li><li>
Cleans and sanitizes toys, furniture, and play equipment.</li><li>
Adhere to all school rules and policies.</li><li>
Maintain a neat and professional image at all times.</li><li>
Performs other related duties as assigned</li></ul> 
Required Skills/Abilities<ul><li>
Excellent communication skills with parents, teachers, and other childcare workers.</li><li>
Ability to be patient and understanding when working with children and interacting with parents.</li><li>
Knowledge of childcare principles and procedures</li><li>
Ability to relate to children and make the childcare facility an enjoyable atmosphere.</li><li>
Knowledge of early childhood teaching strategies</li><li>
Comfortable using workplace technology, including computers, tablets, communication apps, and classroom devices</li></ul>
Required Licensing/Certifications<ul><li>
CPR Certification; must be maintained by obtaining recertification as necessary.</li><li>
90 Hour Preschool Certificate</li><li>
45-hour infant/toddler certificate or equivalent (preferred)</li><li>
Americans with Disabilities Act (have or complete within the first 30 days)</li><li>
Basic Health and Safety (have or complete within the first 30 days)</li></ul>
Required Education and Experience<ul><li>
Must be 19 years of age</li><li>
High school Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education (or related field) preferred</li><li>
A minimum of 3 years of successful, related teaching experience</li><li>
Maryland Childcare Credentialing at any level (preferred)</li></ul>
Physical Requirements<ul><li>
Prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending</li><li>
Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds</li></ul>
