Position Summary</h2>
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Benefits Administrator to support a focused 401(k) project initiative on a 3-month contract basis. This role will report to the HR Operations Support Manager and will be responsible for auditing, reporting, reconciliation, and process improvement activities related to the company&rsquo;s 401(k) program and benefits administration processes.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in ADP Workforce Now, advanced Excel skills, and hands-on experience managing 401(k) plan administration, compliance, and cross-functional collaboration with Finance and external vendors.<h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Key Responsibilities</h2><ul><li>
Support the administration and reconciliation of the company&rsquo;s 401(k) plan.</li><li>
Pull, analyze, and audit benefits and payroll reports from ADP Workforce Now.</li><li>
Perform detailed audits of 401(k) contributions, employer match calculations, eligibility tracking, and compliance reporting.</li><li>
Reconcile payroll deductions with plan vendor records and coordinate corrections as needed.</li><li>
Liaise with Finance to ensure accurate funding, reporting, and general ledger alignment.</li><li>
Partner with payroll and benefits vendors to resolve discrepancies and participant issues.</li><li>
Review and improve documentation of processes related to 401(k) administration.</li><li>
Assist with compliance testing preparation (e.g., nondiscrimination testing support, audit preparation).</li><li>
Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to strengthen controls and efficiency.</li><li>
Provide status updates and reporting to HR leadership throughout the project lifecycle.</li><li>
Support additional HR Operations tasks as needed during the engagement.</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Qualifications</h2><ul><li>
3+ years of experience in benefits administration, with direct 401(k) plan experience required.</li><li>
Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now (report pulling and data analysis required).</li><li>
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data reconciliation, formulas).</li><li>
Strong understanding of 401(k) compliance, eligibility, employer match calculations, and payroll integration.</li><li>
Experience auditing benefits data and resolving discrepancies.</li><li>
Demonstrated ability to partner cross-functionally with Finance, Payroll, and external vendors.</li><li>
Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset.</li><li>
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.</li><li>
Ability to work independently in a project-driven environment with minimal supervision.</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Preferred Qualifications</h2><ul><li>
Experience supporting 401(k) audits or annual compliance testing.</li><li>
Familiarity with ERISA and related regulatory requirements.</li><li>
Experience documenting and improving HR operational processes.</li></ul></div>
