We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer/Project Manager to add technical and business development expertise to our growing Western Region. The chosen candidate will be part of our growing Southern California area practice and will be an active partner with our Western Region in supporting our profitable and growing Dams, Levees, and Hydropower engineering practice.<br>

<b>Job Flexibility</b><br>

GEI is instituting a hybrid workplace environment, which allows workers to choose from a range of options allowing a combination of work from home and in the office. This can range from working in the office a minimum of 2-days a week, or electing to work the full 5-days in the office. <br>
<b>Essential Responsibilities &amp; Duties</b><ul><li>
Project manager and technical lead for geotechnical engineering projects and tasks including evaluation, design and remediation of dams, levees and hydropower facilities; geotechnical instrumentation; geotechnical investigations and design for major water infrastructure including conveyance (pipelines, canals, penstocks, pump stations, and tunnels), bridge, and waterfront facilities.</li><li>
Prepare technical scopes of work for proposals and projects, project budgets, requests for proposals for contractors, and technical reports.</li><li>
Lead proposal teams and presentations.</li><li>
Lead and participate in multi-disciplinary, multi-geographic project teams.</li><li>
Maintain high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact, participation in client-based professional organizations, and attendance and presentations at industry events.</li><li>
Manage projects and staff, including technical leadership and oversight, risk management, and mentoring.</li><li>
Assist in recruiting and training additional staff.</li><li>
This position has a field component; travel and some overnight travel is required.</li></ul><br>
<b>
Minimum Qualifications</b><ul><li>
Minimum of B.S. degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or related field. M.S. preferred.</li><li>
10+ years of previous professional experience in geotechnical engineering; significant Project Management experience, including proposal preparation and budgeting; thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations; proven business development skills.</li><li>
Extensive geotechnical background including a strong fundamental knowledge of principles of geotechnical or geostructural engineering, soil and rock mechanics, earthquake engineering, and groundwater hydrology.</li><li>
Recognized for technical excellence and development of client-focused, creative, and practical solutions.</li><li>
Demonstrated entrepreneurial attitude with desire and ability to participate in business development efforts to generate new work.</li><li>
Willingness and ability to travel on short-term assignments as needed.</li><li>
Willingness and ability to perform field tasks and oversight.</li><li>
Valid U.S. driver&rsquo;s license.</li><li>
Professional Engineering license required.</li></ul><br>

Senior Geotechnical Engineer

<b>Your role at GEI.</b><br>
<br>
We are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer / Senior Project Manager to add technical and business development expertise to our growing Metro Area team and to mentor junior staff. GEI has a strong seller/doer culture, broad employee ownership, and a focus on collaboration. Our work includes transportation, building, waterfront, renewable and energy transmission, flood control, and dam/levee projects. The successful candidate will exhibit a combination of technical and managerial skills, strong interpersonal skills, and experience working with multiple client types (e.g., contractors, developers, teaming partners, and government agencies). The selected candidate will work closely with the senior leadership in the Metropolitan New York offices.<br>
<br>
<b>Location Flexibility</b><br>
<br>
The selected candidate will work at one of our Metro NY offices (i.e., Bloomfield NJ, NYC, or Huntington Station, NY). This could be under a hybrid work arrangement with a combination of work from home and in the office.<br>
<br>
<b>Essential Responsibilities &amp; Duties</b><br>
<ul><li>
Grow our geotechnical practice in New York/New Jersey by developing new and existing clients and markets while cross-selling GEI&rsquo;s other core business areas including environmental, water resources, waterfront, ecological, and civil engineering consulting.</li><li>
Exemplify commitment to technical excellence balanced with client-expectations and satisfaction.</li><li>
Serve as a technical leader and mentor. Assist with recruiting and training of staff.</li><li>
Manage the technical, financial, and client relationship aspects of projects.</li><li>
Prepare proposals for professional services and develop new business in areas of specialty geotechnical services.</li><li>
Maintain high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact, participate in client-based professional organizations, and make presentations at industry events.</li><li>
Contribute to strategic planning at the office and regional level.</li></ul><br>
<b>
Minimum Qualifications</b><br>
<ul><li>
B.S. in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering required; M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.</li><li>
Registered Professional Engineer, NY and NJ licenses preferred.</li><li>
Seller-Doer with strong regional relationships, entrepreneurial spirit, and a successful track record in business development.</li><li>
Experience working on interdisciplinary design teams with the ability to be conversant in a variety of technical fields (e.g., environmental, civil, and structural engineering).</li><li>
15+ years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering consulting, with 10+ years in a project/program management role.</li><li>
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li><li>
Willingness and ability to travel on short-term assignments as needed.</li><li>
Must have a valid driver's license.</li></ul><br>
