Position DescriptionJob title: DispatcherCompany: General Transport, Inc. Akron, Ohio Reports to: Operations Manager Responsibilities:<ul><li>Dispatch drivers in areas throughout the United States</li><li>Able to communicate with drivers, shippers and consignees in a professional manner</li><li>Responsible for giving directions to drivers and setting delivery appointments</li><li>Negotiate rates with brokers when loads are needed to fill trucks</li><li>Perform duties for brokerage company as work load demands</li><li>Willing to handle minimal after- hours phone calls</li><li>Follow company policies and procedures; complete administrative tasks correctly and on time.</li><li>Reacts well under pressure; follows through on commitments.</li><li>Balance customer demands and company resources of drivers and equipment effectively</li></ul>Experience: Experience in transportation industry is required; brokerage experience a plus.Skills:<ul><li>Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously</li><li>Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment</li><li>Effective; results-oriented; persistent</li><li>Strong negotiation skills is a must</li><li>Computer skills-Experience with McLeod TMS operating system a benefit</li><li>Able to speak clearly and persuasively in both positive and negative situations</li><li>Professional phone skills</li><li>Trustworthy; able to work independently as well as within a team</li></ul>Hours:Standard business hours; Monday through Friday; some after- hours calls may be required.Travel/Physical requirements:This position requires the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time.
