FLSA: Non-Exempt 
Term of Employment: 190 days 
Job Summary:
To provide a well-organized, smoothly, functioning Media Center/Library environment in which teachers and students can take full advantage of available resources. 
Qualifications:<ul><li>
High school diploma.</li></ul><ul><li>
General knowledge of secretarial duties and responsibilities.</li><li>
Ability to work with students, teachers, and the general public in a courteous manner.</li><li>
Proficient use of computers and other office applications (Microsoft / Google / Email).</li><li>
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as district administration may find appropriate and acceptable</li></ul>
Essential Duties:<ul><li>
Types and processes orders, reports, bibliographies, forms, library schedules, letters to publishers, catalog cards, and the like (both physical and electronic)</li><li>
Orders and receives books selective for purchase by the media specialist/librarian</li><li>
Maintains files of catalog cards, vertical file material, publishers&rsquo; catalogs, and the like (both physical and electronic)</li><li>
Writes daily notices to homeroom teachers concerning overdue books/materials and collects fines for such books/materials</li><li>
Make simple repairs on damaged books and process more severely damaged books for repair at the bindery.</li><li>
Readies books/materials for reserve on teachers&rsquo; requests and maintains the reserve shelf.</li><li>
Prepares current magazines for shelving and maintains the back-number stacks.</li><li>
Assists in the annual inventory of library materials and the preparation of lists of missing books and books to be discarded.</li><li>
Shelves incoming books.</li><li>
Maintains the current inventory of supplies and suggests items for acquisition as needed.</li><li>
Oversee the general neatness and attractiveness of the Media Center/Library and its displays.</li><li>
Help students locate reference materials and other instructional materials.</li><li>
Reads to small groups of students (in elementary school libraries only).</li><li>
Assists the media specialist in maintaining proper student discipline.</li><li>
The supervisor may assign other duties as needed.</li></ul>
