POSITION SUMMARY

The Paraprofessional supports classroom instruction and student supervision under the direct supervision of a certified teacher, contributing to a structured, safe, and productive learning environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must meet one of the following educational requirements under the Michigan Paraprofessional Standards (ESEA Title I):
<ul>
<li>Completion of at least 60 semester credit hours at an accredited college or university, OR
</li>
<li>Associate's degree or higher, OR
</li>
<li>Passing score on an approved formal academic assessment (ETS ParaPro Assessment minimum 460; SAT 480+ EBRW and 530+ Math; or Michigan Basic Skills Exam)
</li>
<li>Satisfactory criminal background check
</li>
</ul>CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li>Assist the classroom teacher in delivering instruction and managing classroom routines
</li>
<li>Provide individual or small-group tutoring and academic support under teacher direction
</li>
<li>Support student behavior management in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, and during transitions
</li>
<li>Assist with classroom preparation, materials, and field trip coordination
</li>
<li>Support bilingual communication and translation for students and families as applicable
</li>
<li>Attend staff meetings and required professional development sessions
</li>
</ul>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, and standing for extended periods. Work environment includes elevated noise levels.
