<div>Position Summary

The Training Instructor is responsible for delivering curriculum-based instruction to contract security personnel assigned to Federal Protective Service (FPS) locations. This role includes conducting a wide range of security-related training and analyzing training data to support training needs assessments and recommendations.

Training topics include, but are not limited to:
<ul>
<li>Basic and Refresher Core Officer Training</li>
<li>CPR/First Aid/AED</li>
<li>Defensive Tactics</li>
<li>Handcuffing</li>
<li>Expandable Baton</li>
<li>OC Spray</li>
<li>Firearms Instruction</li>
<li>National Weapons Detection Training Program (NWDT) modules</li>
</ul>
Required Certifications and Experience

Mandatory Certifications

Candidates must present valid instructor‑level certifications in the following:
<ul>
<li>Firearms Instructor 
Must have completed an accredited Firearms Instructor course (e.g., NRA, Police Academy, state POST Academy, FLETC, or military equivalent) resulting in instructor certification.</li>
</ul>
Minimum Experience Requirements
<ul>
<li>At least two years of demonstrated experience in law enforcement or security methodologies.</li>
<li>At least two years of documented instructor experience.</li>
<li>Must meet Protective Security Officer qualification standards.</li>
<li>Proficiency in developing documents using Microsoft Office applications.</li>
</ul>
Preferred Instructor Certifications

Instructor credentials in the following areas are highly preferred:
<ul>
<li>First Aid/CPR/AED 
Instructor certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.</li>
<li>Expandable Baton 
Instructor certification from an approved program (e.g., ASP, Monadnock, Police Academy, state POST Academy, FLETC, or military equivalent).</li>
<li>OC Spray 
Instructor certification from an approved program (same approved sources as above).</li>
<li>Defensive Tactics 
Instructor certification from an approved program (same approved sources as above).</li>
<li>NWDTP Instructor (National Weapons Detection Training Program) 
Must hold current NWDTP instructor credentials.</li>
</ul>
Education
<ul>
<li>Required: High School Diploma or GED</li>
<li>Preferred: Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Homeland Security, Security Administration, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field</li>
</ul>
Additional Requirements
<ul>
<li>Must pass a medical exam and drug screening</li>
<li>Must be a U.S. Citizen</li>
<li>Must be able to read, write, and speak English clearly</li>
<li>Must be able to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends</li>
