<div><div><b>Position summary</b>: The Accounting Associate is responsible for all accounting functions as assigned related to payroll, accounts payable and receivable, including processing, payments and recording invoices and bills, maintaining general ledger entries, assisting with bank reconciliations, journal entries, and related reporting, as well as providing assistance to Human Resources.</div>
<div></div><div><b>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
</b></div><div><b>Payroll responsibilities</b></div>
<ul><li>Enter new hire and employee pay, deductions, status and position changes into payroll software programs as directed by Human Resources.</li>
<li>Generate necessary informative payroll reports and distribute these to appropriate department supervisors for review.</li>
<li>Process payroll on a bi-weekly basis; distribute paper checks via inter-office to necessary departments.</li>
<li>Journalize all payroll activity into accounting software programs.</li>
<li>Generate and file all payroll reports.</li>
<li>Review bills for all insurance programs for accuracy, resolving discrepancies.
</li><li>Maintain employee personnel files as required for Human Resources documentation protocols.</li>
<li>Maintain confidentiality on all matters related to employee compensation and personnel.</li>

<div></div><div><b>Accounts payable responsibilities</b></div>
<ul><li>Maintain payable procedures of the company and A/P vendor master list; keep all A/P filing current.</li>
<li>Review checks after printing to verify amount, vendor, etc. and submit for proper signatures; prepare checks for outgoing mail.</li>
<li>Review A/P aging report; audits and follows up on vendor statements.</li>
<li>Assist Accounting Manager in expense analysis and savings initiatives during month end closings and audits.</li>
<li>File and/or pay all reports as required.</li>
<li>Assign purchase orders according to procedures.</li>
</ul>
<div></div><div><b>Accounts receivable responsibilities
</b></div><ul><li>Maintain spreadsheets for billing accounts, Medicare billing and shipping documents.</li>
<li>Process invoices from shipping documents into accounting software programs.</li>
<li>Review A/R aging report; pursues collection activities such as sending follow up inquiries, negotiating past due accounts with direction from the Accounting Manager; refers accounts for collection to the Accounting Manager.</li>
<li>Ensure all collected funds are applied or refunded; keeps accurate notations on all accounts.</li>
</ul><div><b>Additional responsibilities</b></div>
<ul><li>Attend safety trainings and follow all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe and supervised work environment for all employees at all times.</li>

<div></div><div><b>Qualifications and required skills:</b></div>
<ul><li>Above average math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.</li>
<li>Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.</li>
<li>Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records are essential.</li>
<li>Maintain confidentiality on all matters related to organizational finance, employee compensation and personnel.</li>
<li>Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office, payroll software and other accounting software specific to Goodwill.</li>
</ul><div><b>Education and experience:
</b></div><ul><li>High school diploma required. Associate&rsquo;s degree in accounting, finance or a related field preferred.</li>
<li>3 years accounting experience, including payroll, accounts payable and receivable.</li>
<li>Significant experience in the field may be considered in lieu of a degree.</li></ul></div>
