This position requires demonstrable payroll and bookkeeping experience. Only applicants who can demonstrate proficiency with payroll calculations and bookkeeping will be considered. Our office is located on Church Street in the 4th ward of uptown Charlotte. Our firm is very different from most CPA firms and we can actually prove it.What does a Staff Accountant Actually Do at GP CPA?The first 4 weeks will consist of hybrid training and support so that you can get up to speed on our Firm&rsquo;s workflows and provide foundational (a.k.a. IRL) accounting skills. We require our accountants to be certified in Xero &amp; Gusto within 45 days of their hire date. Both certifications are key performance metrics that must be met. The client accounting services role will focus on 3 core areas: accounting, payroll, and sales taxes.Bookkeeping &amp; AccountingOur Firm&rsquo;s primary accounting platforms are Xero and QBO. The majority of your time will be spent adding and reviewing financial data in Xero or QBO and the position will be directly supervised by the Firm's Accounting (CAS) Manager. The CAS Manager will be the primary point of contact for all GP CPA clients and will include training the client on our Firm&rsquo;s standard operating procedures along with troubleshooting banking or accounting platform issues. The CAS Manager will follow our Firm&rsquo;s review guidelines to ensure the financial statements confirm with the income tax basis of accounting before they are sent to our clients.Also, the CAS accountant will be responsible for onboarding new accounting clients and managing the outsource team&rsquo;s workloads. Our goal is to provide each client with income-tax basis financial statements by the 7th of each month.PayrollOur clients process payroll through Gusto, either on their own or by our Firm. Payroll processing will take approximately 2-3 hours per week on average and is concentrated on Mondays and Tuesdays. A few clients chose other payroll companies that will require the CAS accountant to navigate these platforms.Sales TaxThe CAS accountant will be responsible for processing sales tax for multiple clients each month. Typically sales tax is completed by the 10th day of each month.
