<div>Position Summary: To provide patient and family care as part of the health care team in accordance with the mission, vision, and policies and procedures of Grande Ronde Hospital. Working under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Manager, House Supervisor, and/or Charge Nurse, provides care authorized by the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN). Performs general nursing duties in Medical-Surgical department in collaboration with providers. Participates in performance improvement activities. 


Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Graduate of an accredited school of nursing</li>
<li>Registered Nurse with a current, unencumbered Oregon License</li>
<li>BLS current. ACLS within 6 months of hire.</li>
<li>If Charge Nurse: PALS within 6 months of hire</li>
<li>BSN or greater preferred</li>
<li>CMSRN or PCCN Certification preferred</li>
<li>Past experience should show satisfactory to superior job performance</li></ul> 


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Follows standards and practice for the licensed Registered Nurse per OSBN.</li>
<li>Provides assessment and planning for individualized patient care.</li>
<li>Documents appropriately in patient record</li>
<li>Communicates with providers about changes in a patient&rsquo;s clinical condition including: patient monitoring and results of diagnostic studies.</li>
<li>Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.</li>
<li>Answers patient calls</li>
<li> Assists with fall prevention and preventing pressure, friction, and shearing of patient skin</li>
<li> Maintains effective communication with patients, families, and coworkers</li>
<li> Maintains patient and environmental safety. Provides 1:1 patient safety observation as needed</li>
<li> Gives clear, simple directions to patient, and reinforces teaching and orientation to the patient</li>
<li> Maintains and enforces strict patient confidentiality and respect patient and family rights</li>
<li> Demonstrates knowledge of State and Federal regulations</li>
<li>Participates in in-service and education programs as required by Federal and State rules.</li>
<li> Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.</li>
<li> Complies with all Compliance Program policies as appropriate.</li>
<li>Reports potential compliance issues to his/her manager, a Compliance Officer or the Compliance Hotline, as appropriate.</li>
<li>Completes all other duties as assigned.</li></ul>

Med Surg RN - 0.9 FTE Days

<div>Position Summary: The Family Birth Center RN provides direct patient care in the Labor and Delivery, Post-Partum and Nursery care setting (LDRP). The incumbent applies the nursing process within their scope of practice as defined by the Oregon State Board of Nursing. Work includes assessing, developing, and implementing an individualized plan of care in collaboration with physicians, interdisciplinary teams and the patient and family throughout the LDRP and Nursery care phases. 

Qualifications:
<ul><li>Current Oregon Registered Nurse license without restriction</li><li>Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (CPR) required</li><li>Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP&reg;)</li><li>Current S.T.A.B.L.E. learner course</li><li>Advanced Fetal Monitoring or NCC-EFM required within 6 months of hire</li><li>Minimum one-year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience Preferred.</li></ul> 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 
 
1. Ensure compassionate, collaborative, and professional nursing care throughout the Labor and Delivery, Post-Partum and Nursery care phases as assigned by the supervisor/manager or designee. 
2. Organize patient care by prioritizing, delegating, delivering, and evaluating care on an ongoing and timely basis. 
3. Gather and interpret patient information with accuracy; perform and document nursing assessments; verify presence of all necessary pre-op / pre-procedure records. 
4. Implement appropriate patient interventions, evaluate outcomes and document care delivered and patient status. 
5. Administer, oversee and document the safe administration of medications and treatments. 
6. Consult with providers and supervisors (e.g. Charge Nurse, Manager or designee) as appropriate to determine best treatment plans for patients. 
7. Provide healthcare education and guidance to patients and families in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. 
8. Advocate for the ethical and holistic care of patients from diverse backgrounds promoting autonomy, dignity, and health. 
9. Contribute to assigned work unit by demonstrating a commitment to competent professional nursing practice and engaging in opportunities for professional growth. 
10. Stay informed about professional trends and adhere to policies, procedures, and standards of care, including safety / risk management, regulatory requirements, and AWHONN guidelines. 
11. Identify opportunities for, and actively participate in, performance and quality improvement activities to improve clinical outcomes, healthcare delivery systems, and address patient safety and satisfaction.

1. Ability to adjust to changing priorities and increased workloads in order to meet patient care and department needs, including floating between the LDRP phases of care. 
2. Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage time effectively for the provision of patient care. 
3. Ability to operate and monitor relevant equipment within Birth Center services. 
4. Ability to interpret, prepare and maintain patient information using the electronic medical record. 
5. Skilled in making sound decisions and practicing critical thinking, especially when responding to urgent and emergent situations. 
6. Skilled in therapeutic communication with the ability explain complex medical topics. 
7. Skilled in performing service recovery to promote a positive patient experience, addressing complaints before they become grievances and escalating issues to supervisors for resolution as appropriate. 
8. Knowledge of health equity and ability to provide age-specific, culturally competent care that considers the patient&rsquo;s physical, psychosocial, and socioeconomic needs.
