Granola

Granola is an AI-powered notepad designed for individuals who frequently attend back-to-back meetings. It allows users to jot down important notes while automatically transcribing discussions in the background. After meetings, Granola enhances the notes using AI, enabling users to interact with their meeting content, analyze themes, and take actions such as drafting follow-up emails. The platform is compatible with all major meeting software on both Mac and Windows, and can also be used for in-person meetings and phone calls on iPhone.

Hey! We're team Granola
We're looking for an engineer who loves audio and transcription, and loves building products in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
In this role, you will make Granola the best desktop transcription app that exists. You'll be talking directly with users to understand their transcription problems. You will be part of the founding team and help unlock Granola for the next 100x users.
In this role, you will:<ul><li>
Own and build our transcription features end-to-end. Things like:<ul><li>
Audio capture on macOS and Windows</li><li>
Echo cancellation</li><li>
Connections to transcription providers/models</li><li>
Local transcription models</li><li>
Diarisation/attribution</li><li>
Transcription UI/UX on our desktop app</li><li>
Logging and evals so we know whether all this is working/improving!</li></ul></li><li>
Feel every transcription papercut, because you&rsquo;ll be using Granola for every meeting!</li><li>
Optimise the application for speed, scale, and reliability</li><li>
Interact with users to understand their problems and design solutions</li><li>
Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers, product managers, designers, and other members of the team to create a cutting-edge product</li></ul>
Your background looks something like:<ul><li>
Experience with audio capture, real-time media pipelines</li><li>
Engineering experience at tech and product-driven companies</li><li>
Proficiency with TypeScript, Node.js, and React, and ideally Electron</li><li>
Comfortable dropping into native code and OS audio APIs (CoreAudio, WASAPI, &hellip;) when needed, even if you're not a low-level specialist</li><li>
Experience with speech-to-text models/providers</li></ul>

 In this role, you will deep dive into scaling challenges, build secure and reliable infrastructure, and develop robust backend solutions that power exciting new features.
 
 
 
 In This Role, You Will

 Own the evolution and scaling of our backend infrastructure
 </li>
 <li>
 Design and implement performant APIs and services
 </li>
 <li>
 Build infrastructure to support cutting-edge AI capabilities
 </li>
 <li>
 Optimise database performance and query efficiency
 </li>
 <li>
 Continuously improve reliability and observability through enhanced monitoring and alerting
 </li>

 Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure our infrastructure supports continuous product innovation
 
 
 </li>

 Your Background Looks Something Like

 Engineering experience in tech and product-driven environments

 Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js
 </li>

 Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and infrastructure as code (we build on AWS using Terraform)
 </li>

 Deep knowledge of relational databases (we use PostgreSQL)
 </li>
 <li>
 Familiarity with serverless architectures (we love lambdas!)
 </li>

 Solid understanding of security best practices and performance optimisation
