The Greater Michigan Construction Academy (GMCA) is looking for an experienced Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to join our instructional team. If you've built a successful career in industrial maintenance and enjoy mentoring others, this is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the future workforce.You don't need prior teaching experience. We'll provide the curriculum, training, and support to help you become a successful instructor.Why Join GMCA?At GMCA, we're passionate about preparing the next generation of skilled trades professionals through hands-on, industry-driven training.As an instructor, you'll:<ul><li>Share your knowledge and experience with adult students preparing for careers in the skilled trades.</li><li>Teach just one evening each week (5:30&ndash;9:30 PM)</li><li>Receive support to become an NCCER Certified Instructor.</li><li>Work with a collaborative education team that values quality instruction and student success.</li><li>Make a real difference in helping students build rewarding careers.</li></ul>About the PositionThis part-time instructor will teach adult students through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on lab activities. The curriculum covers topics including:<ul><li>Industrial maintenance fundamentals</li><li>Piping components and piping practices</li><li>Valve identification, installation, and maintenance</li><li>High- and low-pressure steam systems</li><li>Precision measuring tools</li><li>Couplings and mechanical seals</li><li>Conventional alignment</li><li>Safe work practices and industry standards</li></ul>Our instructors focus on helping students understand both the &quot;how&quot; and the &quot;why&quot; behind the work while developing the practical skills employers expect.Responsibilities<ul><li>Deliver engaging classroom and hands-on instruction.</li><li>Create a safe, organized, and positive learning environment.</li><li>Prepare students for NCCER knowledge and performance assessments.</li><li>Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback.</li><li>Encourage professionalism, safety, and teamwork.</li><li>Attend instructor meetings at the beginning of each semester.</li><li>Complete required attendance, grading, and instructional documentation.</li></ul>QualificationsWe're looking for someone who has:<ul><li>At least 4 years of industrial maintenance experience.</li><li>Journeyman status or equivalent industry experience.</li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills.</li><li>A passion for mentoring and helping others learn.</li><li>Commitment to workplace safety and high-quality workmanship.</li></ul>Teaching experience is welcome but not required.Schedule<ul><li>Part-time</li><li>One evening per week</li><li>5:30 PM &ndash; 9:30 PM</li><li>Additional paid preparation time as needed</li></ul>Benefits<ul><li>Professional development assistance</li><li>NCCER Instructor Certification training</li><li>Flexible schedule</li><li>Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on Michigan's skilled trades workforce</li></ul>If you're ready to pass your knowledge on to the next generation of skilled trades professionals, we'd love to hear from you.Pay: $37.00 - $40.00 per hourWork Location: In person
