Our Habitat ReStores in Milton, Swanton, and Williston play a vital role in advancing Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity&rsquo;s mission to build affordable housing. By accepting donations of new and gently used furniture, appliances, building materials, clothing, electronics, and home goods and selling items at discounted prices, our ReStores promote sustainability while increasing access to affordable resources for the community. Our dedicated teams of staff and volunteers work hard to maintain a constant flow of goods and offer a wide range of items for our retail visits. The proceeds of ReStore sales are then used to help fund the construction of permanently affordable housing for families and individuals across northwestern Vermont.

Summary:
The Floor Supervisor is responsible for organizing and merchandising the products on the sales floor at the Habitat ReStore. They also price products, accept donations from the donation lane, and fill in as a cashier when needed. This role provides general customer service to donors and shoppers and communicates Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity's mission.
Primary Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Move items onto the sales floor and merchandise store departments such as furniture and household goods.</li><li>
Act as a point of contact for staff who have any questions, respond when called to requests for assistance from the cashiers, and assign tasks to staff to ensure efficient use of their time.</li><li>
Sort, price, and clean donations that come in through the donation lane and use best practices to move larger items such as furniture.</li><li>
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.</li><li>
Help customers carry purchases to their vehicles.</li><li>
Assist in unloading scheduled pickups alongside the truck drivers on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, as well as any other specialty pickups throughout the week.</li><li>
Greet any donors and customers and thank them for contributing to our cause, and answer any questions they may have.</li><li>
Lead the completion of the daily checklist for opening and closing the store.</li><li>
Complete opening and closing procedures for the store, including reconciling the cash drawer.</li><li>
Assign tasks and provide basic training to new and regular volunteers. Escalate any concerns or complaints to the managers.</li></ul>
Secondary Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Operate the Point-of-Sale cash register system and help customers complete their purchases. While on the register, always stay within sight of the register area and front door.</li><li>
Promptly assist donors who come to drop off donations and accept or reject them based on whether the items are in good, sellable condition.</li><li>
Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul>
Requirements:

Desired Education and Experience:<ul><li>
Previous experience working in a retail environment.</li><li>
Retail supervisory experience preferred.</li><li>
High school diploma preferred.</li></ul>
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:<ul><li>
Able to communicate well with other staff, volunteers, and any type of visitor to the ReStore.</li><li>
Dependable and able to stick to a schedule.</li><li>
Excellent customer service skills to respond to any questions or concerns.</li><li>
Strong time management skills and the ability to assign tasks to others.</li><li>
Flexibility to switch to different tasks quickly.</li><li>
Able to lead a team and resolve minor conflicts.</li><li>
Light arithmetic skills to accurately work on the register</li></ul>
Must be able to:<ul><li>
Walk or stand for long periods in the back warehouse, traverse stairs, and navigate a busy sales floor.</li><li>
Lift, pick up, carry, place down, and bring upstairs at least 50lbs.</li><li>
Squat to pick up items from the floor and perform repetitive data entry on the register and pricing motions.</li></ul>
Compensation &amp; Benefits:
The compensation for this full-time, in-person position is currently $18 per hour. Benefits include generous holidays, 3 weeks of paid time off, a health reimbursement plan ($6,450/year), and a 20% staff discount at the Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity ReStores.
