Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Conduct work on transportation projects including but not limited to roadway design, sidewalk and trail design, intersection and safety improvements, engineering feasibility studies, and transportation planning.</li>
<li>Preparation of engineering reports, plans and specifications for major and minor projects.</li>
<li>Prepare and review preliminary and final plans and technical specifications, construction contract documents and cost estimates, and make recommendations for additions, deletions and substitutions when modifications are necessary.</li>
<li>Participate in construction contract advertising and bidding, construction contract administration and construction engineering and inspection (CE&amp;I) work if needed.</li>
<li>Produce the design and coordinate the project with City, State and County officials and other outside agencies.</li>
<li>Mentor junior engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project.</li>
<li>Coordinate projects with clients, contractors, outside consultants and firm staff.</li>
<li>Communicate and interact with project team members, client representatives, review agencies and others as appropriate to project. Resolve a variety of complex problems (e.g., conflicting or difficult design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements).</li>
</ul>
Minimum Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology.</li>
<li>10 - 15 years of roadway design experience preferably in Alabama.</li>
<li>Professional Engineer, P.E. certification is required.</li>
<li>ALDOT project experience is strongly preferred.</li>
<li>Demonstrated working knowledge of software systems: Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD) is strongly preferred</li>
