Medical Billing SpecialistGriffith Eye Center has an immediate opening for an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join our busy ophthalmology/optometry practice in Erie. The ideal candidate is a knowledgable, detailed-oriented billing professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys sharing their expertise with others. Candidate has proven medical billing experience and a strong understanding of ophthalmology/optometry billing, surgical billing and vision plans. Salary commensurate with experience.Required skills &amp; abilities<ul><li>Several years of experience in medical billing</li><li>Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT-4 procedure codes</li><li>Deep understanding of insurance eligibility and authorizations, benefits and reimbursement processes</li><li>Experience in insurance eligibility, prior authorizations and referrals in a health care setting</li><li>Advanced understanding of coding modifiers and their appropriate use</li><li>Proven expertise in A/R follow-up and denial management</li><li>Experience with Medicare, commercial insurance plans and vision plans</li><li>Excellent communication and customer service skills</li><li>Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving abilities</li><li>High attention to detail and accuracy</li><li>Strong team-work ethic</li><li>Ability to work in fast-paced environment and manage time effectively</li><li>Experience with ophthalmology and optometry billing preferred</li><li>Compulink practice management experience a plus</li><li>CPC, COPC or similar certification preferred</li></ul>What You'll Do<ul><li>Review and validate patient demographics, insurance details, charges and coding</li><li>Verify and document insurance coverage and limits prior to patient exams using eligibility tools</li><li>Contact patients regarding balance due at time of service</li><li>Effectively communicate insurance coverage limits to patients</li><li>Obtain prior authorizations relevant to date of service for procedures, surgeries and testing as needed</li><li>Review medical records to ensure proper coding</li><li>Bill claims from Compulink practice management software</li><li>Download and post EFTs from clearinghouse, post insurance checks and patient payments</li><li>Resolve claim edits, rejections and denials</li><li>Ensure compliance with timely filing requirements and regulatory standards</li><li>Assists in patient billing collection process and special billing projects</li><li>Serve as a expert for billing processes, coding and payer requirements</li><li>Support accurate eligibility verification, authorizations and referral processes</li><li>Identify workflow improvements to reduce denials and increase efficiency</li><li>Assist front office staff, when necessary, including scheduling appointments, performing check-in and check-out procedures, answering phones and day-end close activities</li></ul>Why Join Griffith Eye Center?<ul><li>Friendly, team oriented-culture</li><li>Small practice atmosphere</li><li>Monday through Friday work week</li><li>Competitive benefits</li><li>Medical Insurance</li><li>401(k) plan with yearly company contribution</li><li>Pension plan with yearly company contribution</li><li>Paid vacation time-off</li><li>Paid Holidays</li><li>Eye care discounts</li><li>Continuing education to support certification</li></ul>Salary commensurate with experience.Pay: From $20.00 per hourBenefits:<ul><li>401(k)</li><li>Employee discount</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Retirement plan</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>ICD-10: 1 year (Required)</li><li>CPT Coding: 1 year (Required)</li><li>Medical Billing: 1 year (Required)</li></ul>Work Location: In person
