Why This Role Matters:
This is a senior-level Accounts Payable Specialist role with leadership and oversight responsibilities, designed for an experienced finance professional ready to make a meaningful impact within a complex, multi-entity organization. The role is responsible for managing high-volume cash disbursements, leading, and mentoring a team of AP professionals, and ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all payable&rsquo;s operations. You&rsquo;ll operate within a complex insurance environment spanning life insurance, annuity, property &amp; casualty, and health lines of business, requiring a thorough understanding of industry-specific processes and regulatory requirements. This role is a key contributor to financial controls and compliance in Group 1001 and plays a critical part supporting multiple legal entities and maintaining the integrity of the organization's financial reporting and disbursement processes.
How You&rsquo;ll Contribute:<ul><li>
Manage and process high-volume AP operations across multiple entities</li><li>
Lead and provide oversight of AP team members including reviewing, mentoring, and ensuring accuracy and timeliness</li><li>
Oversee and execute vendor payments, ensuring accurate and timely disbursement of funds in compliance with company policies</li><li>
Maintain and strengthen internal controls over cash disbursements and AP processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements</li><li>
Support the monthly financial close process, including AP accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries</li><li>
Manage and support internal and external audit processes, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries</li><li>
Assist with 1099 reporting, vendor reviews, and year-end compliance activities</li><li>
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance scalability of AP function.</li><li>
Be the point person for accounts payable onboarding and integration when new legal entities are added to the holding company structure.
</li></ul>What We&rsquo;re Looking For:<ul><li>
7+ years of progressive AP experience, including at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory capacity</li><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in accounting, finance, or related field</li><li>
Experience managing high-volume invoice processing</li><li>
Experience supporting multiple legal entities, preferably within insurance (life, annuity, property &amp; casualty, and health)</li><li>
Strong understanding of internal controls over disbursements and fraud prevention</li><li>
Experience supporting monthly close processes including accruals and reconciliations</li><li>
Experience managing or supporting internal and external audits</li><li>
Proficient in Workday AP and advanced Excel skills</li></ul>
