What You Will Do: 
We are currently searching for an outstanding, highly skilled Electron Microscopy (EM) Laboratory Technologist to support the overall objectives of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI).The individual selected for this position will provide training and access to cutting edge techniques and instrumentation to investigators requiring electron microscopy in their research promoting interdisciplinary collaboration with a variety of groups within the NIH.This position will involve working with hazardous chemicals under strict safety guidelines.This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD.<ul><li>
Organize and maintain inventory of lab supplies, consumables, and equipment.</li><li>
Learn new laboratory techniques and procedures.</li><li>
Monitor operational procedures in technical environments to ensure conformance to safety standards.</li><li>
Maintain detailed notes on research and laboratory work and be able to provide summaries when needed.</li><li>
Provide research lab support by performing electron microscopy (EM) protocols on biological and material samples, including sample preparation (fixation, heavy metal staining, dehydration, and embedding), semi- and ultra-thin sectioning, post-staining, and imaging.</li><li>
Collect, process, and analyze lab samples independently.</li><li>
Operate simple light microscopes, transmission electron microscopes (TEM), and scanning electron microscopes (SEM) to produce high-quality digital images of client samples.</li><li>
Prepare and maintain stocks of commonly used solutions and materials for all staff and users of the EM Core.</li><li>
Compile results and prepare technical reports and appropriate documentation of outcomes.</li><li>
Participate in ongoing projects to prepare samples and collect EM images for scientific publications.</li><li>
Train EM Core users on the use of general lab equipment and EM techniques.</li><li>
Train EM Core users on sample preparation protocols and specialized equipment operations such as TEM and SEM, following a standard operating procedure.</li><li>
Interact with vendors and service providers to ensure proper functioning and servicing of equipment.</li><li>
Monitor compliance with NIH and OSHA safety requirements.</li><li>
Ensure the lab&rsquo;s yearly Safety Survey is conducted and lab complies by addressing any safety concerns identified during the surveys.</li><li>
Maintain the lab in an organized, clean manner. Stock supplies and dispose of chemical waste at regular time intervals.</li><li>
Write and update protocols for lab equipment and processing techniques.</li><li>
Assist with scheduling instruments and equipment through the online management system (iLab).</li><li>
Schedule and maintain records of equipment and facility use and assist Directors in billing.</li><li>
Maintain instrumentation by troubleshooting and performing or coordinating maintenance, service, and repair tasks (e.g., performing alignments, calibrations, water cooling system maintenance, etc.).</li></ul> 
What You Will Need:<ul><li>
Master&rsquo;s degree in Biology or a related field with minimum ONE (1+) year of EM experience OR a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Biology or related field with minimum THREE (3+) years of EM, in lieu of Master&rsquo;s degree.</li><li>
High level of proficiency in techniques such as preparing ultrathin sections of resin embedded samples on an ultramicrotome.</li><li>
Strong knowledge of laboratory safety policies and regulations.</li><li>
Strong computer and software skills and ability to set up and operate diverse scientific equipment.</li><li>
Team-oriented, strong organizational skills in managing competing priorities; effective communication in fast-paced high-thruput lab environment with investigators and core facility staff.</li><li>
Ability and willingness to work with hazardous chemicals under strict safety guidelines.</li><li>
Demonstrated experience with chemical safety practices, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), waste segregation and disposal procedure.</li><li>
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust. Candidates must receive approved adjudication of their Public Trust prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active Public Trust or existing suitability are preferred.</li></ul>

The annual salary range for this position is $56,000.00-$94,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.

What You Will Do:<ul><li>
Understand high-level client requirements, break them down into detailed tasks, and collaborate with the team to define solutions; provide recommendations based on qualitative and quantitative analysis</li><li>
Contribute &amp; Manage backend PMO activities (Timesheet Management, Invoice Oversight, SubK &amp; Roster Management, Laptop/Resource Management, Expenses, EDSP &amp; other Compliance Requirements), including project documentation, governance, and compliance tracking</li><li>
Develop and maintain advanced reports and dashboards using MS Excel and excellent exposure to MIS Reporting and Analysis</li><li>
Perform internal data analysis and quality checks; interpret results and communicate findings to business stakeholder</li><li>
Support process automation initiatives using VBA &amp; Macros, and Data Modelling &amp; Transformation using Power Pivot and Power Query</li><li>
Transcribe and report collected information into client-ready formats with accuracy and timeliness</li><li>
Design and implement technology best practices, guidelines, and repeatable processes for reporting and automation</li><li>
Work independently with low to moderate supervision while ensuring deadlines and accuracy of deliverables are consistently met</li></ul>
What You Will Need:<ul><li>
Must have a bachelor&rsquo;s degree in science, business, IT, Analytics, or related field</li><li>
Must have minimum 1 year of experience in data analysis, MIS Reporting &amp; Analysis, or backend PMO activities</li><li>
Strong quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data from multiple sources and deliver actionable insights</li><li>
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (Power Pivot, Power Query, formulas, macros) and solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)</li><li>
Working knowledge of PowerBI for dashboard creation and VBA for Process Automation</li><li>
Excellent communication skills to interact with stakeholders at different levels and present clear, data-driven recommendations</li><li>
Ability to anticipate potential issues, troubleshoot problems, and develop effective solutions proactively</li></ul>
