The Center for Academic Engagement&rsquo;s Journeyman/Skilled Trades Tutor are skilled and experienced workers whose role will align with the industry in which they are involved (i.e., welders, electricians, machinists, automotive technicians, etc.). As a provider of learning and technical support, the journeyman will utilize their skills and expertise while leading unskilled or entry-level students, overseeing student projects, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Journeyman will also possess the ability to work independently with little to no supervision, a commitment to continuous learning, and the motivation to mentor apprentices within their realm of influence.</div>
Duties/Functions
<ul><li>Guide entry-level students, i.e. apprentices, to develop the skills and competencies of the vocation or industry.</li>
<li>Inspect to diagnose problems areas in each student&rsquo;s work.</li>
<li>Coordinate with faculty develop, implement, and inspect student projects.</li>
<li>Conduct workshops to reinforce project elements.</li>
<li>Use a variety of instructional techniques to meet students&rsquo; learning needs.</li>
<li>Integrate effective study and learning strategies to maximize students&rsquo; potential for academic progress.</li>
<li>Collaborate with Center for Academic Engagement staff, College faculty, Student Support Services staff, and other constituents to deliver a comprehensive learning support program.</li>
<li>Maintain a positive, learner-centered, and professional environment.</li>
<li>Develop resources for student, faculty, and staff use.</li>
<li>Follow and communicate Center for Academic Engagement policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Keep accurate records of performance, and progress.</li>
<li>Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance learning support skills, and industry knowledge.</li>
<li>Promote the college&rsquo;s tutoring and journeyman program during outreach activities and events.</li>
<li>Demonstrate and model the college&rsquo;s employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility, and teamwork.</li>

<li>Completion of an apprenticeship program</li>
<li>Earn a certificate and/or an associate&rsquo;s degree from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution with documented successful completion of undergraduate coursework in desired industry trade(s).</li>

<ul><li>Must be available for in-person tutoring and open to travel to various campus locations throughout the week.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Scheduling allows for up to 25 hours per week, at least 15 hours must be on-site.</li></ul>

The jobholder is a certified police officer with the power of arrest who responds to students, faculty/staff and citizen calls for service on an assigned campus at Guilford Technical Community College, enforcing criminal and traffic laws and local ordinances and college rules, regulations and directives. S/he investigates and writes reports of incidents and conducts preliminary investigations of those incidents, investigates traffic accidents on campus, patrols campus buildings and grounds, enforces parking regulations, enforces towing regulations, locks and unlocks buildings, responds to medical emergencies, collects and secures evidence, testifies in court, and serves criminal papers. S/he also works with school and community policing programs in an effort to solve problems that generate crime and to identify and solve safety and security issues. S/he may work any shift on any campus and may be required to be on call when not on duty. Key elements of this job are trustworthiness, dependability and the ability to project a positive public image.</div>
Min Salary $40,172.55 Mid Salary $45,194.12 - We offer a competitive salary package that will be determined based on the candidate's experience level and qualifications related to the job. <ul><li>The minimum education requirement for a Campus Police Officer is to be a high school graduate or have completed and passed a G.E.D certification program&mdash;this requirement is mandated by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.</li>
<li>A candidate for employment as a Campus Police Officer must have successfully completed an accredited Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Program and be ready to be certified by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission as a police officer.</li>

<li>As a condition of employment a successful candidate must pass a comprehensive psychological evaluation, a medical examination, a drug test and any other tests/examinations as mandated by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission for police officers.</li>
<li>Upon employment, must complete the following college training matrix but not limited to: Automatic Electronic Defibrillator/CPR; Chemical Hygiene/Biological Safety; Bloodborne Pathogens; Chemical Safety (HazCom/HazMat); Emergency Action Plans; Emergency Equipment; E-Vac Chair; first aid; Machine Guarding; Personal Protective Equipment; Reporting Requirements; Anti-Harassment; Personal Information Protection Training; and National Incident Management Systems.</li>
<li>A candidate must not have committed or been convicted of a felony or serious misdemeanor.</li>
<li>Candidate must be at least 21 years of age.</li>
<li>Minimum age for employment as a Campus Police Officer is 21 years of age.</li>
<li>Mobility necessary to accomplish assigned tasks, such as walking the campuses to lock and unlock the campus, complete security surveys, patrol buildings, and like duties.</li>
<li>Dexterity necessary to qualify yearly with all departmental weapons.</li>
<li>Possess or be able to obtain prior to employment a valid North Carolina Driver&rsquo;s License.</li>
