Employment Status: Full-Time
Classification: Non-Exempt
Location: Onsite Newton, NC
Work Schedule: 2:00 p.m. &ndash; 10:00 p.m. Monday &ndash; Friday; ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Travel: None
Supervision: None
Reports to: Quality Control Supervisor
Pay: $20.50/hour with $1.00/hour shift differential, this position is eligible for a pay increase once qualified then after three years of experience.
Position Summary: Quality Control (QC) Technician is responsible for accurately testing and approving incoming raw materials and manufactured products, according to standard procedures and specifications. Ensures quality through testing and inspecting at various stages of the production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality.
Essential Functions:
<ul><li>Performs all quality control tests on raw materials and manufactured products in a timely and accurate manner per established guidelines and frequencies.
</li></ul><ul><li>Performs quality control tests and inspections on device production (First Piece Inspection).
</li></ul><ul><li>Performs in-process audits throughout the course of the shift to verify compliance to both internal procedures and customer specifications.
</li></ul><ul><li>Contribute to laboratory cleanliness and biohazard removal.
</li></ul><ul><li>Collects raw material, validation, in-process and finished product samples for analytical testing.
</li></ul><ul><li>Calibrates, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment and instruments.
</li></ul><ul><li>Ensures the QC support in Manufacturing (Environment Monitoring) and cleaning verification/validation process.
</li></ul><ul><li>Participates in Outside of Specification (OOS) investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action development.
</li></ul><ul><li>Maintains laboratory inventory.
</li></ul><ul><li>Follows established health and safety procedures and policies.
</li></ul>Other Duties
<ul><li>Assists production, R&amp;D, and Engineering departments when required.
</li></ul><ul><li>Assists validations, studies and routine tests product development.
</li></ul><ul><li>Assists and coordinates the samples sent to external laboratory for testing.
</li></ul><ul><li>Performs other Quality Control Technician duties as assigned.

Experience and Education Requirements
<ul><li>Highschool Diploma/GED required.
</li></ul><ul><li>Associate degree preferred.
</li></ul><ul><li>Some laboratory experience such as pipetting, measuring, and caliper preferred. 
</li></ul>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's) Required
<ul><li>Knowledge of analytical and quality control test methods.
</li></ul><ul><li>Knowledge of the proper use and preparation of chemicals and reagents.
</li></ul><ul><li>Strong working knowledge of various mathematical concepts including fractions, ratios, and proportions.
</li></ul><ul><li>Knowledge of Food Safety, Pharmacopeia's and/or Regulatory requirements.
</li></ul><ul><li>Knowledge of effective, safe laboratory, and experimental procedures.
</li></ul><ul><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
</li></ul><ul><li>Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
</li></ul><ul><li>Strong laboratory testing skills.</li><li>Ability to self-motivate and work without direct supervision.</li><li>Strong ability to analyze data and results is required.</li><li>Strong multi-tasking ability is required</li><li>Ability to use Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, other computer programs, and technology.</li></ul>

</div><div>Working Conditions
 
<ul><li>Environment: Primarily works in a manufacturing facility with exposure to noise, dust, moving machinery, and temperature variations.
</li><li>Safety Requirements: Must adhere to all company safety policies, wear appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment), and comply with OSHA and facility safety standards.

</div>Working Conditions
 
This position typically functions in a combination of an office and plant environment; there will be exposure to moderate noise levels, fumes, dust, chemicals, heat/cold, and allergens especially in plant/warehouse environment.
