Reports to: Project Engineering Manager
Position Status: Permanent &ndash; Full Time
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Pasadena, TX
Work Schedule: Standard schedule is Monday through Friday.
Purpose: The Project Engineer drives the execution of H+M project delivery from project startup through closeout. This person will provide technical expertise for their assigned projects and is critical to facilitating internal processes as well as serving as a key point of contact to clients. This person interfaces between engineering and all departments and disciplines to coordinate various project activities and review/validate project progress.
Core Job Responsibilities
<ul><li>Understand contractual requirements and facilitate internal communication between Engineering Team and the necessary departments/disciplines</li>
<li>Key contact for technical issues and coordination between H+M, Supplier and Client</li>
<li>Develop Engineering Execution Plan with Project Team
</li><li>Ensure project scope of work, schedule, budget, and execution plan are clearly defined and understood
</li><li>Manage interfaces between all departments by providing effective communication, coordination and follow-up to meet project goals and objectives while expediting the flow of technical communication or technical decisions if needed.</li>
<li>Communicate scope and design changes to the Project Team</li>
<li>Manage external RFI process with Client as well as internal RFI process with construction
</li><li>Manage project action items and deliverables
</li><li>Recognition of change and support of Project Manager through negotiation of change orders</li>
<li>Ensure key engineering steps have been executed
</li><li>Schedule and lead constructability reviews and drive closure to resulting action items and changes</li>
<li>Provide final measures of quality control for engineering packages prior to client delivery</li>
<li>Track execution of key milestones, ensuring early identification and communication of potential issues/roadblocks</li>
<li>Utilize engineering rules of credit to track progress against budget and schedule
</li><li>Drive timely and accurate internal reporting of project progress, compile weekly report to deliver to Project Manager
</li><li>Ensure internal system setup for new projects has been completed and drive project estimate effort</li>
<li>Lead pre-award processes such as bid kickoff meetings and proposal reviews
</li><li>Conduct engineering design reviews</li>
<li>Ensure adherence to document management procedures for engineering deliverables and packages
</li><li>Forecast staffing levels required to execute assigned projects and coordinate with department managers for resource assignments</li>
<li>Monitor material quantity forecasting and trending for EPC projects</li>
<li>Develop procurement and subcontract plan with construction management, assist with requisition and RSA generation as set forth in plan
</li><li>Demonstrate exceptional ability to facilitate clear and concise communication across all disciplines including project controls, estimating, construction, and engineering, to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment throughout project lifecycle.</li>
<li>Monitor suppliers&rsquo; compliance with purchase order conditions</li>
<li>Actively support safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives
</li><li>Manage project closeout activities</li>
</ul>
Essential Skills &amp; Qualifications
<ul><li>BS in Engineering</li>
<li>5+ years industry experience</li>
<li>Working knowledge of engineering packages and deliverables
</li><li>Proven success in a Discipline Engineer or Project Engineer role handling multiple simultaneous projects (preferred)</li>
<li>Understanding of cross-departmental coordination
</li><li>Strong leadership and relationship building skills
</li><li>Well-organized with a system to ensure priorities are accomplished</li>
<li>Very good communication and interpersonal skills
</li><li>Attention to detail and problem-solving ability</li>
<li>A general understanding of key value drivers for project delivery, and an ability to synthesize a plan to deliver the project.</li>
<li>Microsoft Office Suite: Microsoft Project, Outlook, Word, Excel</li>
</ul>
Physical Requirements
<ul><li>Occasionally lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds</li>
<li>Sit for long periods of time</li>
<li>Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch</li>
<li>Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects</li>
</ul>
Environment: Hybrid remote and onsite work. Visits to job sites will be required on occasion as needed.</div>
