   Explains and demonstrates how to access print and online materials.

   Maintains library software and equipment.
  </li>

   Assists students in logging into network accounts, as well as using email, D2L, Microsoft Office, and other campus software applications.
  </li>

   Oversees circulation duties including the processing of books and course reserves.
  </li>
  <li>
   Places and processes interlibrary loan requests.
  </li>
  <li>
   Compiles and analyzes data; maintains a variety of usage logs and statistics.
  </li>
  <li>
   Oversees inventory of all library print materials.
  </li>
  <li>
   Processes delinquent accounts and maintains overdue notices.
  </li>
  <li>
   Assists Coordinator with Budgets and Purchasing
  </li>
  <li>
   Maintains records and balances of all expenses for library functions.
  </li>
  <li>
   Contacts vendors, obtains price quotes, and generates purchase orders/check requests for library supplies and resources.

   Assists librarians with reference, technical services, and administration.
  </li>
  <li>
   Answers basic reference questions in person or via chat service; refers complex requests to librarians.
  </li>

   Mends books/materials and alerts Coordinator to condition and/or preservation concerns.

   Assists with creation and maintenance of library catalog records.
  </li>

  EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 Associate&rsquo;s or higher degree preferred or the willingness to work towards a degree if hired. 2-3 years of related experience, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. One or more years&rsquo; experience working in a library setting preferred.

<div><div><h1 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Duties</b></h1>
<p>
Library Student Assistants serve as the face of the college and first line of assistance for students, faculty, staff, and community members entering the library, calling on the telephone, and seeking support via chat. In addition to library-specific tasks such as checking items in and out, shelving, and shelf reading, student assistants provide support across a wide variety of inquiries including directions, general campus &amp; library information, computer assistance, printing, and the PaperCut system.</p>
<p>
Student assistants also help keep the library clean and tidy throughout the day. A variety of other duties and projects may be assigned as needed to support library functions. Because of the high level of support provided to students and library staff, prompt and regular attendance is valued.</p>
