<p>
Halff is seeking a Electric Distribution Designer to join us in our San Antonio office. The ideal candidate would bring at least 2 years of experience working in ESRI Utility Network (UN) or an ESRI enterprise multi-user data ArcGIS environment. The general designer role focuses on the coordination and design of installations, extensions and/or system improvements related to the Electrical Distribution Systems. The position will use ESRI software for gas facility edits, ensure special accuracy, perform job evaluations, reconcile and post activities in the production GIS database.</p>
<p><b>
What you will do:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Landbase Services &ndash; coordinates the verification of edits, QA/QC, and closing of as-built designs with Designers, Construction personnel, Site Inspectors, and Schedulers</li>
<li>Overhead Engineering - Coordinates and designs overhead electric system improvement projects and civic improvement projects</li>
<li>Gas Engineering - Coordinates and designs gas system improvement/renewal projects; civic improvement projects; and large line extensions and service installations/upgrades/remodels for large commercial and industrial customers and developments</li>
<li>Create, edit, analyze and implement gas facility data updates from job construction sketches, as-built sheets, or mobile applications using standardized CPS symbology and data placement business rules, related to civic improvement, rehab or other existing work</li>
<li>Validate gas line pressure discrepancies, confirm gas service measurement and feature placement consistency</li>
<li>Produce specialty Gas facility mapping and data product requests for internal and external use</li>
<li>Maintain and ensure successful GIS data exports to critical modeling and outage applications such as ADMS, Gas SCADA, and Gas Hydraulic Modeling software</li>
<li>Follow business rules and generate reports to improve the data quality for export to other systems</li>
<li>Perform all coordination with external agencies such as the City of San Antonio, TxDOT, etc.</li>
<li>Conduct field surveying for the design and installation for each job, including staking pole locations and locating buried utilities</li>
<li>Develop job sketches and perform As-builts</li>
<li>Performs other project and process improvement initiatives as assigned</li>
</ul>
<p><b>What you will need:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>At least 2 years of experience working in ESRI Utility Network (UN) or an ESRI enterprise multi-user data ArcGIS environment.</li>
<li>High School Diploma or GED Equivalent</li>
<li>Exceptional knowledge and demonstrated application of relevant design and construction standards and applicable code requirements</li>
<li>Extensive knowledge and demonstrated application of Electric Line Extension Policy and Gas Line Extension Policy</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimum supervision verified through assessments</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to prepare high quality job sketches utilizing GIS</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to perform accurate and timely as-builts</li>
<li>Ability to meet goals and objectives with minimal direct supervision</li>
<li>Ability to work in a variety of locations such as the field, construction centers and the main office</li>
<li>Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling</li>

<li>Associates degree in Science with a concentration in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical or related field from an accredited university</li>

<li>Relative experience in supporting utility construction &amp; maintenance.</li>

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Employee may potentially be exposed to hazardous chem, wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather, noisy and dusty environment. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. Overtime may be required due to business demands.</p>

 </b><b>What you will do:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Preparing designs, construction packages, and bills of material for progressively complex distribution line projects and providing engineering support to the full project life cycle from concept through construction to as-builts.</li>
<li>Performing on-site visits as necessary for determining routes, staking, right-of-way requirements, locates, and identifying all existing conditions in preparation for designs.</li>
<li>Acts as customer point-of-contact throughout the work management process by receiving and responding to customer phone calls and emails. Will need to update tracking system.</li>
<li>Meet for preconstruction meetings and/or any issues that may occur during construction.</li>
<li>Perform electric power calculations for determining capacity and effective sizing of distribution material and equipment.</li>
<li>Prepare mockups and designs as needed</li>
<li>Performing QA/QC of distribution line designs and construction packages prepared by other designers.</li>
<li>Work with the Project Managers and other associated teams to meet deadlines, aid in engineering decisions, and collaborate on Projects.</li>
<li>Assisting in the development of distribution engineering design philosophies, standards, details, and specifications.</li>
<li>Continuously seeking improvements to our project execution processes, including safety by design, quality, and consistency.</li>
<li>Mentoring, and/or training Designers, CADD Technicians and administrative staff.</li>
<li>Report to client office or Halff office daily</li>

<p><b>What you will need:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Must have a minimum of 2 years or more experience designing distribution designs for both overhead and underground electric distribution lines.</li>
<li>Proficient in creating plan and profile distribution designs in AutoCAD.</li>
<li>Experience with CAD-based or GIS-based design tools for electric power infrastructure.</li>
<li>High-level of interpersonal relationship, communications, facilitation, team building, and collaboration skills.</li>
<li>Ability to work outdoors for extended periods.</li>
<li>Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.</li>
<li>Experience applying relative industry codes and standards, including NESC and NEC.</li>
<li>Strong written and verbal communication skills. Confident interacting closely with clients, management, and design teams.</li>
<li>Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).</li>
