Job Summary: 
Under general supervision, the HR Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Human Resources department with all administrative duties of the organization. These include, but are not limited to, conducting onboarding of new employees, maintaining employee files, assisting with payroll processing using the HRIS system Paylocity, and assisting with benefits administration as well as general admin duties of the corporate office. This position reports to the Human Resources Director and strives to provide exemplary customer service to internal and external customers while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. This is an exempt role with hours scheduled Monday through Friday, 9:00am &ndash; 5:00pm. Additional hours as required.

Duties/Responsibilities: 
General Human Resources:<ul><li>
Perform administrative duties, such as maintaining employee database and HR email management.</li><li>
Lead and coordinate onboarding sessions for new Front of House employees, ensuring accurate system setup and policy review.</li><li>
Assist with onboarding review for new Back of House employees with Kitchen Managers.</li><li>
Maintain accurate records of employee records, documentation, and I-9 Forms.</li><li>
Process employee status changes in HRIS.</li><li>
Assist management in employee relations inquiries.</li><li>
Respond in a smooth and timely manner to employee inquiries and provide general HR support across multiple restaurant locations.</li><li>
General employee HR support and communication.</li><li>
Ensure all restaurants and company handbooks are up to date with with labor laws and company policies standards.</li><li>
Any other duties as assigned.</li></ul>
Benefit and Compliance<ul><li>
Provide support with the administration of health and welfare plans, workers comp claims; benefits renewals, enrollments, changes, and terminations; and the annual open enrollment process.
</li><li>Conduct benefits orientations and explain benefits self-enrollment system.</li><li>
Conduct audits on required employee certifications and report to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations; Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees.
</li><li>Coordinate compliance annual company-wide trainings and track until completion.
</li></ul>HR &ndash; Payroll:<ul><li>
Act as backup for processing bi-weekly payroll using Paylocity and Toast POS.</li></ul><ul><li>
Review timesheets, tips and preprocess payroll reports ensuring accuracy.</li><li>
Assist with ensuring compliance with IRS and other governmental laws and regulations.</li><li>
Communicate with employees about Illinois Secure Choice and update accordingly in HRIS system.</li></ul>
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:<ul><li>
Extremely detail-oriented and organized and able to work independently and accurately under general supervision.</li><li>
Technology and accounting systems savvy.</li><li>
Analytic, organizational, and problem-solving skills, which allows for strategic data interpretation vs. simple reporting and/or processing.</li><li>
Excellent verbal and written communication skills that are tactful and diplomatic</li><li>
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, able to respond to changing priorities</li><li>
Able to respond effectively to telephone and in-person inquiries.</li><li>
Knowledge of intermediate Microsoft Office programs required knowledge of Google Suite.</li><li>
Able to work at computer up to 90% of the time; ability to utilize general office equipment.</li></ul>

Qualifications:<ul><li>
2-4 years of experience in a human resources related position required.</li><li>
Knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.</li><li>
Proficient with payroll or HRIS software.</li><li>
Basic knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.</li><li>
Understanding of federal, state and local tax and labor laws and reporting requirements.</li><li>
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.</li><li>
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.</li><li>
Fluency in Spanish and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills, required to effectively communicate with clients and team members.</li><li>
Hospitality experience preferred.</li></ul>
Preferred/Additional Skills:<ul><li>
Experience working with Spanish-speaking employees in a professional setting.</li></ul>
Education and Experience:<ul><li>
High school diploma or GED and one to two years of experience in Human Resources, payroll and employee benefits administration.</li></ul>

Physical Demands &amp; Work Environment 
The position is considered to be sedentary and no unusual physical requirements are necessary to perform daily tasks. Position requires an extended period of sitting, with much of the work done at a computer workstation. Stooping and/or bending may be required to perform routine clerical tasks, such as filing.
