Fire Chief/EMA Director - Haralson County Fire DepartmentHaralson County is seeking an experienced, visionary Fire Chief to lead its fire department in providing top-quality fire protection, emergency medical services, and public safety to the community. The Fire Chief will manage all operations, strategic planning, and administrative functions of the fire department, including fire prevention, training, suppression, and budgeting. The Fire Chief will also serve as the Haralson County EMA Director.This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive knowledge of fire service operations, a commitment to safety and community engagement, and a proven ability to lead and inspire a diverse team.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Leadership &amp; Vision: Sets departmental goals and strategic plans (including one, three, and five-year master plans) in alignment with county objectives. Fosters a positive, inclusive, harassment-free work environment with a focus on excellence.</li><li>Operational Management: Supervises and directs all fire department operations. Maintains communication with appropriate local agencies. Ensures personnel and civilian safety. Implements and monitors operating policies and disaster plans.</li><li>Financial Oversight: Develops and manages the department&rsquo;s budget in coordination with the County&rsquo;s Finance Director. Handles procurement and resource allocation. Prepares bid specifications for grant opportunities.</li><li>Personnel Development: Oversees a team of 50+ employees, including recruitment, selection, training, evaluation, and discipline. Builds and supports a team-based culture that is focused on professional growth and collaboration.</li><li>Emergency Command: Serves as the chief authority during emergency operations. Sets protocols and procedures in high-stakes situations. Communicates and coordinates with appropriate individuals and agencies.</li><li>Public Relations: Represents the fire department to other government departments and agencies, as well as the general public. Coordinates public outreach programs.</li><li>Compliance &amp; Policy: Develops department manuals, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with NFPA 1021 and other relevant standards and regulations. Performs audits on department to ensure internal and external regulations are followed.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>Education: High School Diploma (or GED) &ndash; OR &ndash; any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.</li><li>Experience: At least fifteen (15) years in the paid fire service, including at least five (5) years of command experience involving shift management and departmental supervision. Strong background in firefighting, fire prevention, and personnel administration.</li><li>Certifications: Valid Georgia Firefighter Certification. Current GEMA Certification or ability to acquire GEMA Certification within two (2) years. Emergency Medical Technician Certification. Class E or F driver&rsquo;s license.</li><li>Skills: Proficient in budget management, resource allocation, public speaking, and operational command.
