Position Overview:</b></div><div>
Under the supervision of the Medical Services Manager and guidance of the Lead Veterinary Technician, the Veterinary Technician position supports the veterinarians in ensuring quality veterinary care for all pets, provides education on all aspects of pet health, and ensures a safe and effective environment. The Veterinary Technician participates in clinical and animal care activities that support the Veterinary Public Health program and implements strategies to enhance disease control, as well as the health of shelter and private resident animals.</div><p></p><p><b><br>
Duties &amp; Responsibilities:</b></p><div><ul><li>
Evaluates health/temperament of animals and advises veterinarian and/or staff as appropriate.</li><li>
Collects specimens, perform in-clinic diagnostic laboratory tests, administer vaccinations/treatments and implant microchips under the guidance of the attending veterinarian. Prepare samples for submission to reference labs.</li><li>
Assists veterinarian with examinations, treatments and surgery in any appropriate capacity. Also, dispenses medications as prescribed by the veterinarian</li><li>
Responsible for cleaning, feeding and care of animals in surgery and medical areas</li><li>
Cleans and stocks assigned medical and surgical areas, maintains laboratory and surgical equipment, including the sterilization of surgical instruments</li><li>
Responsible for accurate and timely data entry of records within the database.</li><li>
Follows protocols for safe induction of anesthesia, monitors animals while under anesthesia and during recovery</li><li>
Provides education on responsible pet ownership, vaccinations, infectious disease, preventatives and treatments. Answers questions concerning animal health, behavior and care.</li><li>

Veterinary Technician

Harris County Office of Managed Assigned Counsel (MAC) supports attorneys in treating clients with dignity and respect through high-quality legal and holistic representation to persons accused of a crime who are unable to afford an attorney. Among several responsibilities, the MAC Office is responsible for timely reviewing and processing payment for attorneys who are eligible to receive appointments through the MAC Office. The MAC Office reviews and processes several hundred attorney vouchers per week.</div><div></div><div><b><br>
Position Overview:</b></div><div>
Under the supervision of the Administrator, the Voucher Assistant will assist with reviewing attorney vouchers to determine whether they satisfy approval conditions. Additionally, the Voucher Assistant will draft communication to attorneys as to voucher status, return attorney calls, and respond to attorney inquiries. The Voucher Assistant will also act as a backup to administrative assistants and other front desk duties. The Voucher Assistant will also assist with office-critical functions such as maintaining attorney assignment calendars, office supply management, organization of meetings and conference calls, and interfacing with the public as well as contacts within the county for general purposes related to the MAC Office.</div><div></div><div><b><br>
