Job Summary
 "Under the direction of the Director of Automation, the Automation Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for analyzing, developing, supporting, and documenting the ongoing continuous improvement projects within the Automation Engineering department to increase the efficiency, operation and readiness of the plants automation equipment.
 The CI Engineer will use Six Sigma tools to analyze and support recommendations for machine improvements and cost saving projects. "
 
Essential Functions: 
<ul>
<li>Provide analytical data and documentation to support machine improvements that will lead to improved machine efficiencies.</li>
<li>Collaborate and review suggested design improvements with Automation Engineer Design Team</li>
<li>Ensure conformance to engineering codes, IATF16949 and HellermannTyton standards for quality</li>
<li>Use CAD/SolidWorks software to create/modify and update drawing within the EPDM vault</li>
<li>Use AB software to create/modify and update machine Programmable Logic Control programs as required.</li>
<li>Modify and update CAD/SolidWorks files in accordance to standard processes in place in the department.</li>
<li>Possess advanced skills with vision systems and integration for quality inspections.</li>
<li>Build and develop strong working relationships with cross-functional teams to work towards common goals and projects outcomes defined by Operations plant management team.</li>
<li>Participate in project hand off processes that require process optimization, process flow, and assisting with training as required.</li>
<li>Evaluate high scrap machines/cells using problem solving techniques that could include analysis of material, tooling, process or equipment and prepare data to support recommendations/findings.</li>
<li>Lead cross-functional teams to successful project completion outcomes, as directed by the Director of Automation and Operations management team.</li>
<li>Recommend and implement measures to improve equipment performance, quality and production methods.</li>
<li>Stay current with technology and industry standards</li>
<li>Comply with all quality and safety regulations in compliance with OSHA and HellermannTyton policy</li>
</ul>
Other Functions
 <ul>
<li>Travel could be required on a "as needed" basis</li>
<li>Attend all meeting with cross-functional teams to review project work and direction</li>
<li>Lend support through training and technical advice to help other technicians become more efficient.</li>
<li>All employees entering the manufacturing area and other identified locations must wear the designated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as a condition of employment.</li>
</ul>
Success in this role will require
 <ul>
<li>Use of SolidWorks/Cad System</li>
<li>Use of AB Programmable Logic Control software as required</li>
<li>Six Sigma methodologies and practices</li>
<li>Project management skills and creating documentation</li>
<li>Ensure conformance to ASME codes as required</li>
<li>Follow all IATF16949 and company standards for quality and manufacturability</li>
<li>Manage and leverage resources to complete projects on time and within budget</li>
<li>Vision System Integration and control</li>
<li>Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions to recommend improvements.</li>
<li>Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers and fellow team members.</li>
<li>Experience in communicating with suppliers and vendors</li>
<li>Basic to advanced skills in pneumatic systems</li>
<li>Advanced Programmable Logic Control knowledge</li>
</ul>
What You'll Bring
 <ul>
<li>Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or equivalent from a four year college or technical school with 3+ years experience in Automation Design/Integration and Continuous Improvement projects involving automation.</li>
<li>Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical specifications, schematics, and ladder logic</li>
<li>Certified Six Sigma Green Belt is preferred</li>
<li>Ability for overnight travel by air or land as needed.</li>
<li>Must have a valid drivers license, with an acceptable driving record, along with adequate insurance</li>
