Configurators are how our customers find the exact sensor, encoder, or instrument they need from a catalog with thousands of variants. You'll own the configurator stack &mdash; primarily **Vistech**, plus the front-end glue (BigCommerce / Catalyst) and the rules + pricing flow back to JDE / SAP. We have 5+ live configurators today and a roadmap of 10+ more, plus a long-term move toward AI-assisted configuration.
What you'll do
<ul><li>Build new configurators on **Vistech** for new product families across the four OpCos (sensors, encoders, controls, fluid management).
</li><li>Maintain and extend the 5+ live configurators on hengstler.com and dynapar.com &mdash; adding SKUs, rules, validation, pricing logic.
</li><li>Wire configurator output cleanly into the BigCommerce cart / quote / order flow (Catalyst storefront + BC B2B Edition).
</li><li>Integrate 3D models (GLB / GLTF / USDZ) and own visualisation quality on both desktop and mobile.
</li><li>Partner with Product Management on configurator UX &mdash; reducing clicks to a valid configuration is a direct revenue lever.
</li><li>Build re-usable patterns so each new configurator costs less than the last (target: 50% reduction in configurator build time by year-end).
</li><li>Prototype AI-assisted configuration (e.g., 'describe your application, get a recommended config') &mdash; the next major bet on this team.
</li><li>Own QA for configurator changes alongside the QA Automation Engineer; treat configurator failures as P0.
</li></ul>Must have
<ul><li>5+ years building configurator, CPQ, or rules-driven catalog applications.
</li><li>Direct hands-on experience with **Vistech**, **Tacton**, **Configit**, or an equivalent visual rules-based configurator.
</li><li>Strong JavaScript / TypeScript and React (or similar component framework).
</li><li>Comfortable in BigCommerce or a similar commerce platform &mdash; themes, APIs, cart integration.
</li><li>Working knowledge of 3D web (Three.js, model-viewer, or similar) &mdash; enough to debug a broken model render.
</li><li>Track record turning a complex product catalog into a usable configurator that real customers complete.
</li></ul>Nice to have
<ul><li>Direct experience with **BigCommerce Catalyst** (Next.js / React).
</li><li>Familiarity with Perfion or another PIM as the upstream source of attributes.
</li><li>Experience integrating configurators with ERP pricing (JDE / SAP) for real-time list price calculation.
</li><li>Comfort building lightweight AI features (LLM API calls, embeddings, intent classification).

Lead Configurator Engineer (CPQ)

We're hiring two mid-level BigCommerce engineers to build out the B2B portal across our OpCos. The Portal builds / enhancements are in process for all operating companies. You'll be hands-on for all of it &mdash; Companies, Quotes, Orders, Account Management, Custom Pricing, Documents.
What you'll do
<ul><li>Build B2B portal features end-to-end on **BigCommerce B2B Edition** &mdash; Companies, Sales Reps, Quotes, Buyer Approvals, Price Lists, Invoicing, Documents.
</li><li>Implement React/Next.js components in the Catalyst storefront for portal flows (Quote Cart, Quick Order, Shopping Lists, Order History, RMA Status).
</li><li>Wire portal screens to **OIC**-mediated APIs that talk to JDE / SAP / Salesforce &mdash; partner with the Integration Analyst on data contracts.
</li><li>Write Playwright tests for every shipped feature; treat green CI as non-negotiable.
</li><li>Pair with the Senior BC Developer on code review, design, and shared-component reuse.
</li><li>Pick up production support rotation once onboarded.
</li><li>Use AI tools as part of your daily flow &mdash; we'll provide the licenses, you bring the curiosity.
</li></ul>Must have
<ul><li>3-5 years building production web applications in **React** + **TypeScript**.
</li><li>1+ year working with **BigCommerce** &mdash; Stencil OR Catalyst, ideally B2B Edition or a comparable B2B commerce stack.
</li><li>Strong with **REST + GraphQL APIs**; comfortable reading OpenAPI specs and partnering on contract design.
</li><li>Solid CSS skills (Tailwind preferred); accessibility-aware front-end work.
</li><li>Git, branching, PR-based workflow; comfortable in a CI/CD environment.
</li><li>Curious and proactive about AI-augmented development &mdash; Cursor, Copilot, Claude are part of how you work.
</li></ul>Nice to have
<ul><li>Familiarity with BigCommerce B2B Edition specifically.
</li><li>Experience integrating commerce with an ERP (SAP, JDE, Oracle, Dynamics) or CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot, Dynamics).
</li><li>Playwright or Cypress test authoring experience.
