Position: Landscape Designer &amp; Salesperson

Hicks Nurseries, the premier retail and wholesale garden center on Long Island, is looking for Landscape Designer &amp; Salesperson to join our team. With a proud legacy in the industry, Hicks offers a fast-paced, friendly environment where customers and team members alike love to grow. 


Objective:

This role focuses on closing sales opportunities while delivering an exceptional client experience built on trust, communication, and creativity. You'll prepare innovative and desirable landscape design solutions that reflect a diverse array of styles and site conditions, all within the unique Long Island environment.

You&rsquo;ll manage the sales process from initial contact through project handoff, creating highly profitable, artistic, and inspiring outdoor living spaces. This role is ideal for someone who is both a strong relationship builder and a creative designer. 


Essential Functions: 


1. Sales &amp; Client Relationships
<ul><li>
Follow the company&rsquo;s documented sales process from lead to close.</li><li>
Identify client goals and provide compelling design-based solutions.</li><li>
Develop unique, artistic, and site-specific landscape designs.</li><li>
Present proposals professionally and persuasively.</li><li>
Manage your sales pipeline efficiently using our CRM.</li><li>
Meet or exceed personal and company sales and margin targets.</li><li>
Build long-term relationships with clients and consistently exceed expectations.</li><li>
Document all leads and actively follow up on proposals.</li></ul>

2. Project Management (Post-Sale)
<ul><li>
Prepare accurate construction drawings and material takeoffs.</li><li>
Provide thorough project handoffs to project and production managers.</li><li>
Understand and apply local zoning codes, permitting processes, and regulations.</li><li>
Support clients at permitting or variance hearings as needed.</li><li>
Capture project photos for marketing and documentation purposes.</li><li>
Track outstanding client invoices and follow up as appropriate.</li></ul>

3. Sales &amp; Financial Performance
<ul><li>
Collaborate with the General Manager to set and track sales goals.</li><li>
Regularly analyze your sales and margin performance to improve future outcomes.</li></ul>

4. Business Development &amp; Industry Engagement
<ul><li>
Prospect for new business through networking and relationship-building.</li><li>
Establish and nurture connections with builders, real estate agents, architects, developers, and other potential lead sources.</li><li>
Stay current on industry trends, materials, and design techniques.</li><li>
Gather client testimonials and represent the company at trade shows, peer groups, and industry events.</li></ul> 

<ul><li>
1&ndash;3 years of experience in landscape sales.</li><li>
Degree in Landscape Design, Landscape Architecture, or related field.</li><li>
Strong horticultural knowledge and site design sensibility.</li><li>
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn internal software tools.</li><li>
Excellent communication skills&mdash;written, verbal, and interpersonal.</li><li>
Professionalism and ability to build strong client relationships.</li></ul></div>
