The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for performing journeyman-level mechanical work involving the inspection, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles and equipment. This includes but is not limited to on-highway trucks, ready-mix vehicles, and various construction-related machinery. The role ensures that fleet operations remain in compliance with performance, safety, and reliability standards.</p>

Essential Responsibilities of the Position:<br>
<ul><li>Complete tune-up, repair, and overhaul of diesel engines, including removal and replacement.</li><li>Complete tune-up, repair, and overhaul of gasoline, including removal and replacement.</li><li>Ability to use OEM software to diagnose and repair engines and transmissions.</li><li>Service and adjustment of transmissions.</li><li>Overhaul, maintenance, and adjustments of clutches, drive line components, and differentials.</li><li>Overhaul and maintenance of heavy and light-duty suspension systems, including heavy leaf springs.</li><li>Overhaul, maintenance, and adjustments of power and manual steering systems and components.</li><li>Repair and maintenance of fuel systems and related components, both diesel and gas.</li><li>Repair and maintenance of emission control systems.</li><li>Check, test, and repair all components and accessories of electrical systems, 6, 12, and 24 volts.</li><li>Repair and maintain cooling and heating systems.</li><li>Repair and maintain air conditioning systems.</li><li>Repair and maintenance of brake systems and related components, including mechanical brakes, electric brakes, hydraulic brakes, and air brake systems.</li><li>Repair and maintenance of exhaust systems.</li><li>Overhaul, maintenance, and testing of hydraulic systems, including pumps, rams, control valves, lines, and hoses.</li><li>Lubrication, greasing, and oil changes of cars, trucks, and heavy equipment according to specifications.</li><li>Setup, maintenance, and operation of vehicle washing equipment and steam cleaner.</li><li>Make visual inspections of equipment and report any needed repairs to the Supervisor.</li><li>Make service calls for emergency repairs, heavy-duty towing, and equipment retrieval.</li><li>Submit required work orders for work performed and time spent on the job.</li><li>Charges parts, supplies, oils, and grease to work orders.</li><li>Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor.</li><li>Perform welding on steel and aluminum using Gas, Arc, and Mig welding techniques.</li></ul></div>

Skills and Knowledge:<br>
<ul><li>Skilled in analyzing, diagnosing, and correcting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical</li></ul>
failures and defects.<br>
<ul><li>Skilled in using specialized tools and machines standard to the trade.</li><li>Ability to plan and lay out repair work. Read, understand, and carry out repair</li></ul>
instructions from repair manuals. Follow oral and written instructions.<br>
<ul><li>Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the general</li></ul>
public.<br>
<ul><li>Promote a safe work environment by following all company rules and regulations.</li><li>Comply with the company attendance policy.</li><li>Keeps the work area clean and free of clutter.</li><li>Ability to engage in strenuous physical activity, including, but not limited to, stooping,</li></ul>
standing, bending, climbing, etc. Ability to lift 50 lbs.</div>

Requirements:<br>
<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent preferred.</li><li>Minimum of 2&ndash;4 years of experience in heavy-duty diesel equipment maintenance and</li></ul>
repair.<br>
<ul><li>Valid Class C driver's license: Class A or B license preferred.</li><li>Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks including climbing, bending, and</li></ul>
standing for extended periods.<br>
<ul><li>Must be able to work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to dust,</li></ul>
noise, and outdoor weather.</div>
