Our mission is to pray for, equip, and send Christ-centered, passionate leaders to change the world. We are a non-denominational, coeducational Christ-centered school in NE Albuquerque, serving families of children from preschool to high school. Since its founding in 1976, Hope Christian School has prayed for, equipped, and sent nearly 3,000 graduates to change the world. Annually, Hope Christian School educates approximately 1,400 students from Preschool through 12th grade. It is our privilege, honor, and responsibility to prepare these students to be tomorrow's leaders. We believe that all truth is God's truth. So God is not confined to Bible class, or weekly chapel. Job Summary: The High School Teacher - Bible is responsible for providing an engaging and effective learning environment for students. The teacher will plan, implement, and evaluate lessons in their subject area to ensure students achieve academic success and develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The High School Teacher will provide professional instruction to students using biblical principles and a Christian worldview. In addition to delivering content, the teacher will foster student growth, contribute to a positive school culture, and collaborate with staff, parents, and administrators to support student success.
Instructional Responsibilities<ul><li>
Plan, develop, and deliver lessons based on curriculum standards.</li><li>
Use a variety of instructional strategies and resources to meet the needs of students, including differentiated instruction, project-based learning, technology integration, and hands-on activities.</li><li>
Encourage active student participation and critical thinking through discussions, debates, and collaborative group work.</li><li>
Assess student performance using formal and informal assessments (tests, quizzes, projects, presentations) to monitor progress and adjust teaching methods as necessary.</li><li>
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to promote academic growth and mastery of content.</li></ul>
Classroom Management<ul><li>
Establish and maintain clear expectations for behavior, creating a respectful, safe, and positive learning environment.</li><li>
Implement strategies to manage classroom behavior effectively, ensuring a productive classroom environment for all students.</li><li>
Address individual student needs, including academic support or behavioral intervention, in a professional and supportive manner.</li></ul>
Student Support and Development<ul><li>
Provide academic support and mentorship to students, helping them set goals and develop strong study habits.</li><li>
Recognize and celebrate student achievements, both academically and personally.</li><li>
Identify students needing additional help and provide extra support or refer them to appropriate resources, such as tutoring or counseling services.</li><li>
Guide students in developing essential skills like time management, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking.</li></ul>
Collaboration and Communication<ul><li>
Collaborate with colleagues in subject-specific teams, interdisciplinary groups, and school-wide committees to ensure a consistent and integrated learning experience for all students.</li><li>
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss students' progress, achievements, and any concerns through conferences, phone calls, or emails.</li></ul>
Curriculum and Instructional Planning<ul><li>
Integrate biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education.</li><li>
Develop, implement, and evaluate lesson plans, ensuring alignment with school expectations.</li><li>
Integrate technology and digital resources to enhance learning experiences.</li></ul>
Professional Development<ul><li>
Stay up to date with developments in the subject area, educational research, and best practices in teaching.</li><li>
Participate in professional development activities, including workshops, conferences, and in-service training, to continually improve instructional skills and content knowledge.</li><li>
Contribute to the professional learning community by sharing strategies, resources, and insights with colleagues.</li></ul>
Administrative Responsibilities<ul><li>
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and assessments.</li><li>
Prepare and submit reports, progress reports, and other documentation in a timely manner or as directed by the High School Principal.</li><li>
Participate in school meetings, parent-teacher meetings, and extracurricular activities as needed.</li><li>
Follow all school policies and procedures, including those related to safety and discipline.</li></ul>
Requirements:
<ul><li>Have received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and reflect the purpose of the school, which is to honor Christ.</li><li>
Cooperate and comply with the Hope Christian School administration with implementing all policies, procedures and directives governing the operation of the school.</li><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree required (Theology, Biblical Studies, Ministry, or related field preferred) and related experience. Master&rsquo;s degree preferred.</li><li>
Required: New Mexico state teaching credential, ACSI certification, or ACTS certification acceptable.</li><li>
Experience teaching high school students preferred.</li><li>
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.</li><li>
Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.</li><li>
Knowledge and experience with differentiated instruction, classroom technology, and educational software.</li></ul>
