<b>SUMMARY:</b><br>
A special education teacher at the Transition Plus Program will support students who require continuing special education services beyond high school. The teacher will provide services and specialized instruction in a center-based learning model to address students&rsquo; postsecondary/training, employment, and independent living skills.<br>
<br>
A strong understanding of students with special education needs across categorical disabilities. Knowledge of instructional design and curriculum for students with educational disabilities; assessment and evaluation skills for meeting eligibility criteria; knowledge of due process components associated with developing, implementing, and monitoring an IEP.<br>
<br>
Qualified applicants would have a broad spectrum of skills to deliver academic instruction through various teaching modalities. The applicant would have skills and/or experience in programmatic design to address students&rsquo; transitional needs as outlined in the IEP. The individual would possess attributes of leadership, collaboration, flexibility, and effective communication to ensure a team approach is utilized in creating an educational learning environment that ensures high academic rigor while meeting the individualized needs of students.<br>

<b>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</b>:<br>

<ul><li>Develops lesson plans and instructional materials, providing individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil, utilizing district-approved curriculum.</li>
<li>Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.</li>
<li>Evaluate pupils&rsquo; academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports in a timely fashion. Communicate this information regularly with parents.</li>
<li>Plans and coordinates the work of paraprofessionals and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.</li>
<li>Works in a supportive and collaborative manner with colleagues and supervisors.</li>
<li>Maintains and improves professional skills by participating in building and department meetings, formal coursework, workshops, and seminars to stay current with best teaching practices.</li>
<li>Utilizes assessment and evaluation to develop IEP goals and align instruction to the individual student's needs in a special education classroom setting.</li>
<li>Collaborates with regular education teachers in developing modified and accommodated curricula to promote student access to the mainstream classroom setting.</li>
<li>Promotes and supports the district's overall mission by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with the public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.</li>

<i>Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.</i>

<b>1.0 FTE - 185 Days</b><br>
HEA Union Contract<br>
<b>Range: </b>BA: $45,627- $65,024<br>
 MA: $50,702 - $82,203<br>
<i>Working days and salary to be prorated for remainder of school year.</i><br>
