<div>Hours: full-time (37.5 hours per week), with full-time benefits
Location: Lynchburg VA, 24501 
Position Summary
The Clinician, LMHP or LMHP-E will assess the needs of individuals referred for behavioral health assessments to the forensic department at Horizon. Services may include individual therapy, competency evaluations, and restoration services. The forensic clinician may also assist in intermittent coverage for the local youth detention home and jail services and assist the department in services for NGRI monitoring.
Required Education and Experience<div><ul><li>
Master&rsquo;s Degree from a program that prepares individuals to practice counseling (60-hr Master&rsquo;s Program), which is offered by a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency. (Re: 54.1-3500 of the Code of Virginia)</li><li>
No experience required.</li><li>
Resident in Professional Counseling, Supervisee in Clinical Social Work, Resident in Licensed Marriage, Family Therapy, Resident in Substance Abuse Treatment, or eligibility to apply for residency.</li></ul></div>
Note: New hires will be expected to apply for clinical supervision and residency within 30 days of hire.
Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of clinical counseling techniques, behavior modification; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); emergency interventions; family, group, and individual therapies; Possess knowledge of psychosocial education; risk assessments; sex offender treatment; substance abuse interventions; etc.; Knowledge of community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance an individual&rsquo;s treatment and access to community resources; Knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse; Knowledge of the criminal justice system; Knowledge of psychiatric/medical medications/treatments.
Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed. Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver&rsquo;s license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, provide services to clients at other locations. Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites. Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holidays, etc.) as required.
