<div><b>SUMMARY</b><br>
<br>
Responsible for carrying out circulation procedures, both automated and manual, and assisting library users as well as maintaining library files and shelves.<br>
<br>
<b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b> include the following. Other duties may be assigned.<br>
<ul><li>
Assist students, faculty, staff and other authorized users regarding library related needs in person and via telephone.</li><li>
Provide back-up information and reference to library users including instruction in the use of the on-line catalog.</li><li>
Release and receive library materials, equipment, etc.</li><li>
Record identifying data and due date on cards to issue books to patrons.</li><li>
Review automated records to compile list of overdue books and issue overdue notice to borrowers.</li><li>
Inspect returned books for damage, verifies due date, and compute and receive overdue fines.</li><li>
Sort and shelve publications according to Library of Congress Classification and other specified filing systems.</li><li>
Examine materials on shelves to verify accuracy of placement.</li><li>
Schedule the use of computers, and performs minor maintenance of audio-visual equipment, printers and other related library equipment.</li><li>
Assist in the training and supervision of work-study students.</li><li>
Gather, maintain and report statistical information as needed.</li><li>
Perform inventory of library equipment, furniture and materials, under the supervision of a Librarian.</li><li>
Perform clerical keyboarding duties as needed.</li></ul><b>

High school diploma or GED required.<br>

One (1) year experience in customer service in a library preferred.<br>

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.<br>

Experience using information management systems preferred.<br>

WORKING CONDITIONS</b><br>
General Office. Assistant, Library- Coleman Campus (Part-time) Staff Pool

<div><p>SUMMARY</p><p>
Address the special need of new students by providing college advising, scheduling of classes, aiding students through the enrollment processes and guiding applicants to any of the various support services (e.g., testing, career exploration, childcare services, financial aid, and counselors, etc.).</p><p>
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.</p><p>
1. Provide advice to prospective and current students.</p><p>
2. Guide students in the awareness and planning of their post-secondary school curriculum including the selection of the courses and programs of study.</p><p>
3. Assist with registration, orientation, workshops, and seminars.</p><p>
4. Assist students, parents, and community agencies with accurate up-to-date information, which will assist in making sound educational decisions.</p><p>
5. Assist students in the acquisition, usage and evaluation of information including college guidelines, catalogs, and computer-based guidance systems.</p><p>
6. Assist in arranging on-site college visits for parents and students.</p><p>
7. Provide referrals to students needing services such as: tutoring, testing, career counseling, financial aid, disability services, etc.</p><p>
8. Provide online advisement services.</p><p>
9. Assist in retention activities of college including early-alert and as team members within the Success Center.</p><p>
10. Establish and maintain interdepartmental relationships with all student services and instructional programs.</p><p>
11. Provide support and assistance to counselors with their programs and community outreach activities.</p><p>
QUALIFICATIONS</p><p>

EDUCATION</p><p>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree required.</p><p>
EXPERIENCE</p><p>
2 years work experience in post-secondary institution advising setting preferred.</p><p>
Experience with Information Management Systems preferred.</p><p>
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES</p><p>
1. Well organized, task-oriented, and flexible.</p><p>
2. Possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.</p><p>
