Role overview
Dual North America is seeking an Underwriting Assistant.
Under direct supervision, the UA provides administrative support to the underwriting team within an assigned area/ region/ function. Works to assist in achieving profitable growth by providing support with marketing, underwriting, business retention and meeting customer service objectives. Actively participates in the underwriting process to support renewal and new business activities.
Role responsibilities<ul><li>First point of contact for customer inquiries during the account life cycle.</li><li>Rush Clearance and set up of electronic files, including filing. Prequalify risks per underwriting guidelines.</li><li>Generate, edit, and send out a variety of correspondence on behalf of the Underwriters. Ex: Declination letters, quote follow ups, subjectivity reminders</li><li>Respond to client phone calls and emails, which requires the ability to understand the products offered.</li><li>Review and issue policies within authority level.</li><li>Review and approve tasks within authority level.</li><li>Order, review, and follow up on inspections as needed (as required by line).</li><li>Follow up for carrier subjectivities.</li><li>Issue Notices and handle in-house mailings as needed.</li><li>Issue endorsements and cancellations/reinstatements according to established underwriting guidelines within required timeframes.</li><li>Issue binders and invoices within authority level.</li><li>Research issues escalated by Underwriting team including review of BPO transactions as needed.</li></ul>
Key requirements<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in risk management, finance, business or a related field preferred,</li></ul>
Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school<ul><li>1-3 years administrative or insurance experience preferred</li><li>Foundational knowledge of insurance principles</li><li>Excellent written, verbal and client-facing communication skills</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)</li><li>Experience working in a &ldquo;paperless&rdquo; environment.</li><li>Ability to follow policies and procedures</li><li>Self-motivated with strong attention to detail</li><li>Travel up to 10% with an Underwriter to shadow and participate in interactions between Underwriters and brokers</li><li>Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time, with occasional movement in the office to access cabinets and equipment</li><li>If you do not meet all the qualifications for this role, we still encourage you to apply, as we are always looking for diverse talent to join our growing team</li></ul>

Role overview
DUAL North America, Inc. is seeking a curious and self-motivated analyst to support the underwriting of policies for mergers and acquisitions (M&amp;A). Private equity and strategic buyers in M&amp;A deals seek policies to protect them from risk on the target companies they acquire.
The analyst would serve underwriters on the team. The team itself has significant exposure to the full gamut of players in the M&amp;A process: attorneys, insurance brokers and financial advisors. A de minimis portion of the role would also support tax underwriters in issuing transactional risk tax policies.
Role responsibilities<ul><li>Draft quotes for policies on prospective M&amp;A deals: With the supervision of an underwriter, analysts review legal agreements and</li></ul>
documents from investment banks and financial advisors. They then<ul><li>File management: Support underwriter during active underwriting process by circulating and preparing relevant documentation and communication.</li><li>Analysis: Review of financial statements, confidential information memoranda from investment banks, legal agreements, and emails from counsel.</li><li>Policy issuance: Monitor outstanding subjectivities on various deals at the same time. Prepare formal documents when subjectivities are satisfied.</li><li>Liaise with brokers and counsel: First point of contact for broker requests on active deals. Communicate counsel opinion to broker for dissemination to deal&rsquo;s buyer.</li><li>Compliance: Assist underwriters in appropriately documenting the underwriting process.</li></ul>
Key requirements<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in risk management, Finance, Business or a related field preferred</li><li>0 &ndash; 1 year underwriter or insurance experience</li><li>Foundational knowledge of insurance principles</li><li>Undergraduate work experience or internships. Interest in mergers and acquisitions is highly desirable.</li><li>Business or insurance knowledge is helpful but not required.
