The Role
As the Assistant Controller, you&rsquo;ll be the right hand to the VP of Accounting &mdash; leading day-to-day operations, driving revenue accuracy, and ensuring compliance across a multifamily portfolio. You&rsquo;ll touch everything from financial reporting to process improvement, and your work will directly support both residents and long-term organizational growth.
What You&rsquo;ll Do<ul><li>
Oversee daily accounting operations for a diverse affordable housing portfolio</li><li>
Coordinate with leasing and property managers to ensure accurate ledgers, subsidy tracking, and reconciliations</li><li>
Prepare financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders</li><li>
Lead process improvements around revenue management and accounting technology</li><li>
Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting</li><li>
Assist with annual audits, tax filings, and compliance submissions</li><li>
Strengthen internal controls and accounting policies</li><li>
Troubleshoot issues proactively to ensure transactions are recorded accurately</li></ul>
What You&rsquo;ll Bring<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA a plus)</li><li>
7&ndash;10 years of experience in property management accounting, ideally in affordable housing</li><li>
Strong understanding of affordable housing programs and compliance</li><li>
Advanced proficiency in Yardi and Excel</li><li>
A collaborative, detail-driven mindset &mdash; and the ability to lead in a fast-paced, mission-oriented environment</li></ul>
